Hot, Hot, Hot

Aldi's new skincare range - Aldi's launching a luxury anti-ageing skincare range from 4th October and it sounds beautiful. With caviar and snow algae, most products are under £10 and they have research stats to support their anti-ageing claims. Proof you don't have to spend a fortune, and the packaging looks suspiciously like La Prairie...

Sanctuary #LetGo campaign - with wellbeing and beauty blending more and more, The Sanctuary Spa have launched their #LetGo campaign after some shocking research findings on our general mental state, for example over 12 million women are on the verge of a burn out. The video is really powerful and highlights something super important - check it out.

Lan Nguyen-Grealis to launch Art & Makeup book - award-winning make-up artist Lan is launching her first ever book on 17th September and it is BEAUTIFUL! I got a sneak peak and loving it - the perfect coffee table book and very inspiring with stunning pics. It will be £28 so mark the date in your diary!

NEW La Roche Posay Micellar Water Gel

Sometimes there is a new launch that I get really excited about and this is one of them.
I love Bioderma which is the original micellar water and something make-up artists have been using for years until the general public caught on, and now so many brands have their own variation. It effortlessly wipes away make-up without having to scrub or rub hard and damage delicate facial skin.
I'm also a big fan of texture. And I haven't heard of any other micellar gels before so was keen to give this a go as soon as it arrived on my doorstep!
Perfect for sensitive skin, you massage on, wipe off and you're done. So simple. The gel texture means that I've found I use less of this than the micellar water and it leaves your skin feeling really fresh. Also, don't worry the gel itself isn't blue!
This is definitely rivalling Bioderma, I've loving the feeling of it and it also works - cleansing skin in the evening is now so quick. It is £12 and worth every penny.

August's My Little Box

It's always one of my most exciting days of the month when My Little Box arrives. Does that make me sad? What did actually make me sad this month is that one of the products was missing :-( but anyway, the box is once again incredible...
Gypset means 'someone with a passionate soul, an adventurous mind and a bohemian nature' - sounds good doesn't it?!
This month's box is an Antik Batik collaboration with this pretty bag inside.
Switching everything off and just being sounds pretty perfect to me...if only!
The products inside are gorgeous, especially these hair ties. So pretty they say you can use as a bracelet! Super soft too.
In terms of beauty, there's a great bronzer called Caresse d'Ete or Summer Caress which is such a beautiful name! As well as velvety lip/cheek mousse by So Susan - love a multi-tasker.
As I mentioned before I didn't get one of the products in my box (hopefully they'll make up for that) which would have been a Korres Body Milk.
I'm already looking forward to September's My Little Box!

Just How Speedy are Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polishes??!

When nail polishes say 'quick dry' just how quick is that? That's what I set out to test this weekend with the Barry M Speedy nail polishes.

The 'speedy' nail polishes have flat brushes which makes applying it really quick and easy. But I think they're going more for the quick dry than quick apply, so how about the drying time? It was definitely touch-dry after around 5 minutes and I could get on with my day after 10...but is that really that much quicker than regular nail polishes?? If you're going to advertise the quick dry effect, I'm expecting about 2 minutes...done!
As for this shade, which is called Pole Position, it's a great mint green, but the first coat is a little streaky. To get a good even colour you then feel the need to apply quite a thick second coat so it then goes all bobbly. Let's hope the other shades are a bit better...

You Must Read...Yoga Girl

On Saturday I was wandering around Anthropologie and came across Rachel Brathen's book. For those who don't know, Rachel is also known as Yoga Girl on Instagram with over a million followers. I've been following her for a while, she seems to have the most gorgeous life in Aruba, a welcome escape whilst on the tube commuting, and I have been getting more and more into yoga so thought I'd give the book a go.
And boy am I glad I did! I started reading on Sunday and finished within the day, which is unheard of for me. I found it fascinating. A kind of autobiography, I didn't realise that Rachel had quite a tough start to life, and severely went off the rails. Until her mum had enough and sent her to a meditation retreat which changed her life.
For those looking to get into yoga and/or meditation this is an amazing read. I couldn't put it down. I felt myself smiling a lot, I got goosebumps quite a few times whilst reading it, and towards the end I had tears streaming down my face. Certain things really touched me, such as 'You are not alone' and 'The only thing that matters is how much you love'. I have been feeling quite emotional recently so perhaps not everyone cries, but I connected so much to Rachel's words I felt a real release!
As well as Rachel's story, you also get gorgeous-sounding recipes, yoga poses and routines and 'loving insights'. I can't gush about this book enough - just get it!
Weirdly, I had been thinking about going to Costa Rica for a yoga/meditation retreat holiday, and Rachel first discovered yoga in Costa Rica and ended up living there for a few years. So that sealed the deal - I have to book this trip!

#Manicure Monday - WAH London Immerge

I haven't done one of these for a while, and I couldn't resist the look of the new WAH London Immerge kit I saw in Boots on Saturday so gave it a go this weekend!
Called 'psychedelic tech for your nails', the kit includes a base coat (the white polish) plus two jelly-like colours which can mesh together to create cool patterns.
I was hoping it would be a very easy way to have a more creative manicure. I've learnt I need a bit more practice! First up, you put the base coat on and allow to dry. Then I painted the whole nail in yellow, blobbed on some pink and mixed them together with the yellow again. You work on one nail at a time so the base yellow stays wet.
As I was doing it, I quickly realised less is more. You barely need any of the pink polish to create a good effect, and then when you swish through it the brush needs to be fairly dry. It is very quick and easy, you just need to know a few tips to get a good look. At first I wasn't sure, then I liked it, then I almost took it off last night - I can't decide!
What do you think? I like it, but I think I just need to give it a go a few more times! There are other looks you can create such as ombre nails so I'll let you know how I get on. I will crack it!

My Top Three Mascaras

Mascara is one of my absolute beauty essentials. If I have to quickly pop to the shops, concealer and mascara are the two things I will put on. The rest I can leave. So here are my top 3 mascaras right now.
My lashes are naturally fairly long and curly, so I don't tend to look for lengthening mascaras. For me it's all about volume. First up is L'Oreal's Miss Manga mascara.
That little ridge before the brush allows it to be super flexible and get to every little lash. It really does build up every lash, but it can be as subtle as you want - not the full-on manga look if you don't want that!
I've always rated Maybelline mascaras. Their original one in the pink and green tube is incredible. But also Rocket Volume Express works very well at making lashes look fuller. I would say this is a more daytime look as I've found with this brush I can't build the look so well, but one coat creates a lovely, natural look which is super speedy!
Finally, Soap & Glory Thick & Fast. I tend to always get this in the huge Christmas giftset Soap & Glory have every year at Boots, and it's quickly become my absolute fave! One coat for a beautiful daytime look, two or three for a glamorous, sexy evening look. So easy to use, it gets to all your lashes and makes them black and bold. Everything you want in a mascara.

NEW Vichy Dermablend Foundation Shades

The amazing, classic Dermablend range by Vichy has extended the range of shades on offer. For over 30 years, women have been using Dermablend to give them a flawless base and they have now added three shades to help even more people - 05 Porcelain, 65 Coffee and 85 Espresso.
Being pale-skinned this is great news! I got matched to Porcelain (I am ALWAYS the palest shade in the range).
The thing that's so good about Dermablend is how light it is yet it gives great coverage. I tend to use something fairly light like a tinted moisturiser but some days I need something extra. Especially to cover any redness. I'm lucky that I don't have acne, but I need help with redness and generally to even skintone and make me look healthy, and that's what Dermablend delivers! I also love that it has SPF 35.
For those as pale as me, here is what Porcelain looks like:
Which blends away really quickly and evenly...
The full range of Dermablend Corrective Fluid Foundation is available at Boots priced at £18.
