It's Getting Hot Out There - No Sweat with Odor-Eaters SlimSoles

Now this is never a sexy topic to discuss but also important, especially now when the temperature is increasing - foot odour!
Did you know there are 200,000 sweat glands in your feet?! That's more per square inch than anywhere else on your body, and leads to half a pint of perspiration a day! Gross? But sweat doesn't have to lead to that cheesy smell.
Odor-Eaters have been going for as long as I can remember, but this season they have launched slimmer versions, perfect to fit discreetly into sandals, flip-flops, etc. Spring/Summer is the worst time of year for foot odour. It makes sense really, the heat means we sweat more and if you don't really take care of your feet and shoes it can mean there's a bit of a pong which is highly embarrassing!
92% of women wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. I know I do. We all have our favourites, but that can then mean your shoes won't air and dry out completely from the previous day...cheese ahoy!
The new SlimSoles are fragrance-free and use charcoal to trap odours and neutralise them. A unique anti-bacterial agent also fights any smell and these insoles also have Insta-Fresh technology for immediate defence against sweat that releases odour.
All very scientific, but all you really need to know is you can easily cut these insoles to fit your foot size and shoe type. The thinness of them means your shoes are not any tighter, which has always been my worry with insoles. They are so comfortable you don't notice they are there at all and all that technology definitely works as my feet have been fresh all summer so far!
Each pair of insoles last a minimum of 2 months and are just £4 from Boots, Tesco, ASDA and Superdrug - make sure you are foot fresh with Odor-Eaters!

My Little French Riviera Box

My Little Box hasn't disappointed yet again this month - lots of goodies!
This month is all about the French Riviera, including a gorgeous 'This is my happy place' drawing. The box is also a collaboration with interior designer, Sarah Lavoine. This is what I love about My Little Box, it isn't just beauty so exposes me to lots of new people, designs and products!
Sarah has designed this exclusive retro sunglasses for the box, worth £18.
Also these really cute plant pot holders - something I would never buy for myself but can't wait to use! Also, of course, are the beauty products:
Inside is a Kerastase heat-protector, dry hair treatment, a My Little Beauty body scrub and a polish chosen by Sarah Lavoine. I love blue nails so will be trying this out very soon!
Wonder what next month's will bring?!

Current Make-Up Favourites

I thought I'd show you guys my current make-up favourites I'm using every morning at the moment!
I am all over crayons right now. So easy, multi-purpose, they are incredible. I'm using an eyeshadow crayon and a lip and cheek crayon both from My Little Box. Really creamy, easily blendable, they are so good for a quick look in the morning when I only have 10 minutes to do my face!
You can tell the eyeshadow crayon came a couple of months after the lip and cheek one - look how pale I am in the first pic!
I'm also loving the Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude. It's liquid but turns to a silky powder when you blend onto the skin. It's really light so good for this season when the heat means your skin needs to breathe even more than usual. I would definitely recommend this.
The Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner is a classic, many people are already a fan of this, but I've only recently got around to giving it a go. It is so easy to use, is really pigmented but also good at smudging - I prefer a blended, 'lived-in' look than a clean line. They are also launching coloured liners - green, purple, blue, very soon!
To finish this look is the Maybelline Sensational mascara. It's a quite thin brush so good for length but not so good for volume, but that's fine with me for a daytime look. I would want something more for evening but for going to work in the morning this is perfect.
There you go! Quite a minimal face, but I don't like wearing too much make-up. I prefer to have good skincare and then not covering up with loads of foundation! 10 minutes, make-up done.

Liz Earle Turns 20 - Cleanse and Polish Limited-Edition Trio

Liz Earle has just celebrated 20 years of her incredible skincare. And to celebrate she has launched a very special box containing three limited edition versions of one of her cult classics.
One of my all-time favourites products ever has to be Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish. It makes cleansing so easy, gently exfoliates too and never irritates or dries out my sensitive skin. I love the original so much I was so excited when they brought out three limited edition versions with different scents.
The three new scents are Grapefruit & Patchouli, Orange Flower & Chamomile, and Rose and Lavender. Plus how pretty are the designs on the bottles?! I would definitely say the Grapefruit one is best for morning to wake you up, whereas as you probably would expect, the Rose & Lavender is very soothing and calming for evenings.
Also in the box you get two muslin cloths and it all costs £50. A bargain if you adore Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish as much as me! Discover it here

The Beginning of Summer - What Are You Looking Forward To?

The Summer Solstice yesterday signifies the official start of Summer. I absolutely love Summer, and especially in London. It feels happier, calmer, and with so much going on. Here are the top things I'm most looking forward to this season:
1. Lazy evenings - the lighter evenings mean us Brits actually go out after work! During Winter most people seem to want to dash home, have dinner and then time for bed. Whereas in the Summer, the evenings stretch out into cider-packed beer garden fun times. Bliss!
2. Travelling light - in Summer there's no need for a jacket, scarf, hat, gloves. Winter you're laden down with all these accessories, this season it's so care-free, just get up and go.
3. Summer activities - there is SO much going on every night/weekend. Festivals, comedy nights, pop-ups, sales...the city is brimming with exciting things to go to. Make the most of it.
4. A quieter city - London is, quite obviously, packed with people. However, August in London is brilliant - everybody leaves! I prefer to go away Spring/Autumn time when the weather is dreadful here. Fingers crossed, we have a good Summer, and we'll get to enjoy it in a slightly less packed and therefore nicer London!
5. Easy beauty - in Winter, I need a heavier foundation, but Summer needs something light. Make-up can be minimal as a coat of fake tan let's you get away with a light/no base. Mascara, brows, then done! I also always let my hair dry naturally in the Summer to give my hair a break from hairdryers but also to have the casual tousled waves my hair naturally dries to.
6. Bright shades - Summer is when we can ramp up the colour intensity! Nail varnish goes bright coral, accessories can be almost fluorescent, and it all accentuates a tan. Perfect.
7. Reflecting - the approaching start of the new 'school year' always makes me reflect on my life, whether I'm going in the direction I want to go in, and if not what to do about it. The lazy evenings help with this deep thought which we don't tend to get so much during the rest of the year when things speed up and are more manic.
I'm so excited for this season and what it might bring. What do you love about Summer? What are you most looking forward to this Summer?

Hot, Hot, HOT!

Can't believe it's Friday again but here we go - hot, hot, HOT beauty news of the week!
Rihanna Metallic Tattoos - so Rihanna is launching her own brand of the golden, metallic tattoos everyone is loving at the moment, it was announced this week! On sale now, they're very pretty and sure to sell out. Check them out here
Londoners go nude! Heathrow announced their International Lipstick Colour of the Year report and the shade us Londoners love? Nude. Bit boring eh?! New Yorkers go for a bright red, Parisians a dusky rose and women in Shanghai love coral. All a bit silly, but fun!
Lipstick Queen Seven Deadly Sins & All That Jazz - a LOT of newness from Lipstick Queen is coming our way. Seven Deadly Sins are new shades of glosses whereas All That Jazz is a range of four lipsticks. They launch September in SpaceNK from £22

La Roche Posay Anthelios Range - Suncare for Sensitive Skin

The sun's out! Which is fantastic, but it does mean it's time to up the ante when it comes to SPF protection. I used to be such a sun worshipper but I think getting older and starting to see those first fine lines means I'm now a little obsessive about suncare.
This year there are lots of exciting new launches from La Roche Posay with SPF 50+. I haven't come across a product from this brand I don't like. And I feel the Anthelios range is so perfect for me with it's extra high SPF and especially made for sensitive skin.

From left to right you have the Nutritive Oil, Baby Lotion, BB Tinted Comfort Cream and the original Comfort Cream.

The Nutritive Oil is amazing. Sinks in very quickly and you only need a little bit to cover an area - it can be used all over the body. It's very light so good for oily skin too. Plus it gives a lovely sheen to the skin. Also the BB cream is a fave of mine.

It gives just a hint of colour with the SPF 50 protection so great for days like today. Like the oil it is really light so good for slightly sweaty days. It only comes in one shade but it works for me so I'm happy! I think if you were olive skinned it may not match you so well but for English roses it's perfect.

The Comfort Cream is designed for those with dry skin and for the face so go for that if you want more coverage than a BB cream, and you can then pop a foundation over the top. The Baby Lotion is obviously designed for children but why not use it?! I'm going to!

So get yourselves down to Boots as the UV rays are getting stronger and stronger now. Check out the full Anthelios range here

Behind the Scenes at Weleda #WeledaInsight

This Sunday I escaped London and headed towards Weleda's main office based near Nottingham for #WeledaInsight. Absolutely fascinating, they are holding some more days across Summer so I would recommend visiting if you are at all interested in green beauty.
I'm not a 'green blogger' by any means, but it is something I would like to know more about, and I think if something with no chemicals can do as good a job as something packed full of chemicals then why wouldn't you go for the greener option?!
The day started with a tour of their 13 acre gardens...

The weather could have been better unfortunately but it was still great. The gardener was so knowledgeable and explained how they go a step further than organic by using biodynamic farming methods. This goes beyond just treating the root of plants by using organic soil, no pesticides, etc and looks at the whole plant. They also sow seeds according to where the moon is in it's cycle - baffled?! The moon affects water on this planet so if you plant things at certain times in the moon's cycle it will grow better. Makes so much sense but I'd never heard of it before!

We then had a demonstration of how they make their plant tinctures, which is the base of all their products. Some quite complicated science which went over my head but in a nutshell they chop everything down, mix it with ethanol and leave it to soak for a few weeks - easy!

Next, we had a fun time trying to make our own soap! A bit messy but very simple with hardly any steps. I'd never made my own soap before, and I doubt I could give the professionals a run for their money but a nice gift to take away from the day.

The day finished with an insight into their new launches - more on this to come later! Most excitingly for me, they are extending their Almond range for dry and sensitive skin. Perfect for my skin type, but I'm most excited because it is just the best smelling range EVER! Just gorgeous, it smells like marzipan. Also, how gorgeous are these vintage adverts?!

All in all an amazing day, I thoroughly enjoyed getting this exclusive access to an incredible brand.

#ManicureMonday - The Body Shop Colour Crush - Mad About Blue!

This nail polish literally sums up my feelings - Mad About Blue! I absolutely love all shades of blue on my nails. This polish is a really bright blue (trying to egg on some blue sky to appear!)
This is with two coats. You definitely need two, it's unfortunately not a one-coater. But it is lasting very well. I'm loving it. If you too adore blue nail polish this is for you. The Body Shop nail polishes are also 100% vegan, and only £5 each here

Smells Like Holiday!

You know when a product just smells of holiday? Usually something that smells like coconut takes me back to the beach, but also anything tropical will transport me to that happy place and remind me of holidays or just generally summer. Here are my top summer-smelling treats!
First up, the Boots Mango Body Butter. OMG this is gooooood stuff! Deliciously rich, yet sinks into the skin quickly, it smells so much like mango you just want to eat it. The scent stays as well so throughout the day you'll get whiffs of mango gorgeousness to make you smile. Available here

Next, John Frieda has brought back their classic Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray! And thank God they have! I used to use this years ago and the coconut smell this has takes me right back. Probably means I spray much more than I should be it's a welcome return to my beauty routine. Get yours here

The I love... Coconut & Cream Bubble Bath is pure bliss. Super bubbly, holiday smells, pure relaxation - what more do you need?! Find out more here

Next up, the Kadalys Banana Balm not only looks amazing and tropical in terms of design but also the smell is amazing. Plus it is actually a great lip balm too! Brightens up my day, I recommend it to everyone - discover it here.

Finally, new to Yes To is Yes To Coconut. The range is designed for more dry skin than oily which is perfect for me, and the body scrub is just the right amount of gritty to feel like it's doing something but doesn't irritate. It also transports me to palm tree-lined beaches and Pina Colada! Take a look here
