The Difference Between Dry and Dehydrated Skin

Even those with super oily skin seem to be suffering with 'dry' skin at the moment. But is it really dry, or dehydrated? How do you know?
Firstly, dry skin is a skin type. One that you will have throughout your life, regardless of the season and other environmental factors.
You'll feel your skin is tight after cleaning your face or having a shower, your skin will drink in moisturiser like a thirsty desert, and you'll never get a shiny forehead throughout the day! Those oil pads people use to soak up shine, show barely anything if you have dry skin.
On the other hand, dehydrated skin is a skin condition. It isn't permanent and can affect everyone. You have dehydrated skin if the above doesn't apply to you but recently you've noticed a dryness. A good one to think of it is as a dried up apple. Fine lines and wrinkles become more pronounced, skin is dull and overall you look knackered!
Good thing is that it's easily fixed. Guzzle water like it's going out of fashion. Apply dedicated day and night moisturisers and if possible spritz a moisturising spray over your face throughout the day. Use a deeply hydrating face mask once-twice a week. Anything that says it contains Hyaluronic Acid is your friend here - it will plump you up - keep the apple picture in mind - fine lines and wrinkles will decrease.
Hope that helps!
