CEW Awards - Discovering New Brands

The CEW awards demonstration evening was on Tuesday. One of the best things is discovering new brands, or getting to try brands you might have had your eye on for a while.
Here are some goodies I got which I am so excited to try:
Have any of you tried any of these brands before?

Beauty Lounges at London Fashion Week

It's over for another season. Whilst most focus on the shows for London Fashion Week, there is a lot going on behind the scenes. At Somerset House, Toni & Guy and Maybelline have beautiful pamper lounges where you can relax and beautify in amongst the madness!
The Toni & Guy blow-dry area is always busy. A straight-forward blowdry or something a little more complicated is open to you, using incredible products, including these beautiful Label M special edition goodies designed by Giles Deacon.
Also on offer is the Maybelline lounge. Makeovers, manicures, getting tempted by all their fabulous products - it's all going on in there!

Spend some time with Maybelline and leave happy with a wonderful goody bag as well as having your make-up or nails done - winner!
If you go to LFW next season, definitely check them out!

Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation

So I couldn't help myself! I wrote about texture being the biggest trend for beauty in 2015 here and so as soon as this launched I had to treat myself.
The Lancôme Miracle Cushion foundation is one of the first 'cushion foundations' we've seen in the UK. It's a good job I was quick, as John Lewis have now sold out of the two palest shades.
And here it is:
So why bother buying this? Because it gives a good coverage yet feels like whipped air. It has SPF 23 (random number, no idea why 23!) and once you buy the full pot you can just buy refills. This is No. 1 - Pure Porcelain.
I haven't properly blended this onto my hand as you can see - wanted to try to show you all how light it is yet still gives coverage.
So, all in all, it's AMAZING. I've fallen in love with it. Get yours - £29.50 - Debenhams seems to have all shades still in stock.

Poundland Beauty

A few weeks ago I needed a new top coat, and thought why not buy one for £1 in Poundland rather than pay more?!
Well, I thought nothing more of it - and then I had two weeks where my manicure was chipping very quickly. And apologies to Boutique and The Body Shop who I was thinking hadn't made very long-lasting wasn't them. It was my budget top coat.
Don't be tempted by it. For something like a top coat it seems you shouldn't go budget - best to spend slightly more than £1 on it!

Pre-London Fashion Week Essentials

So London Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow to show us all the trends and what we have to look forward to for Autumn/Winter 2015. I work backstage at some shows and whilst really exciting and I love the buzz, it is also incredibly full-on with little sleep and quite a lot of stress.
So, to keep feeling and looking tip-top here are some essentials I use in the build up the LFW and during:
Balmi lipbalm - super nourishing and really quick and easy to apply with the little twist pot design. Mine is coconut which is beautiful

Colab Dry Shampoo - I should really have the London scent but this one is New York. The range from top beauty blogger and model, Ruth Crilly, means you can get away with another day of not washing your hair (perfect when you have early starts and late nights) or you just want some extra volume to your look - smells fruity too!
Anti-bac - my best friend. I can't be ill, and with public transport and everyone's germs putting me at risk, I'm anti-bac-ing to the max! I use Cuticura's anti-bac hand serum, which doesn't feel like just pure alcohol and dries out the hands like I've found a lot of them do. This one is alcohol-free and leaves hands moisturised as well as (almost) germ-free.

Berocca - in the same 'I cannot get ill' vein, I also have Berocca on my desk. If I, or any of my team, start to feel a bit under the weather, or low or even just a bit tired, one of these goes into a glass of water to give me all the vitamin goodness

Green juices - I jumped on this bandwagon fairly late but I'm now obsessed. Every morning I make a gorgeous blend of kale, celery, cucumber, almond milk, pineapple and ginger. At this particular time I add as much ginger as I can handle to crank up the bug-beating goodness.

Top Beauty Looks from New York Fashion Week

NYFW for AW15 is coming to an end. Can't wait for London Fashion Week to see what trends continue but whilst we wait, here are some of my favourite beauty looks from the shows so far...
Peacock eyes at Monique Lhuillier - how gorgeous?!
Plaits galore at Mara Hoffman - could never recreate this at home but it's beautiful

Nail art is going nowhere - check these out from the Adam Selman show:

Plenty of liner at DVF...

And finally, gorgeous raspberry lips at Carolina Herrera. Created using a new Mac lipstick out in Autumn called 'Oh Lady'

New Launches from John Frieda

Last week I was invited to a celebration evening at the Oxo Tower with John Frieda to discover a #hairrevolution
It was to launch their very exciting Forever Smooth Anti-Frizz Primer but there were also some other newbies I can't wait to try.
Millie Mackintosh unveiled the new product, as Rapunzel letting down her gorgeous hair on top of the Oxo Tower, all lit up in pink!
The Anti-Frizz Primer is £9.99 and claims to reduce frizz by 90% - something I could definitely use. Simply pop it on hair after your shower...will report further once I've tried it a few times.
Not really the focus of the evening, but something I'm excited to see again is the Beach Blonde collection, especially the Sea Salt spray. Oh so many memories of using this in my teens! I am so glad they've brought this collection back, and the coconut smell is beautiful.
Finally, I also cannot wait to give this one a go:
This time from the Luxurious Volume collection - 7 days of luxurious volume to be precise. As well as needing frizz control, I could also do with some help in the volume department so perfect. You leave it on for up to 5 minutes after shampoo and conditioner then rinse off. Again, I'll report back...
So, wow, John Frieda have been busy haven't they?! So many new launches. Check them all out for more info here

NEW Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

Sam and Nic have done it again. The most premium collection by their brand, Real Techniques, has just launched into Boots. Their softest ever brushes, they are designed to give you the best results with your make-up.
I've been using the 101 Triangle Foundation and 201 Pointed Crease brushes. First up, I'll chat about the 101 brush:
The shape of this is great. The flat side allows you to cover your cheeks and forehead really quickly, but the best part is the corner where you can really get into the sides of your nose for a flawless finish. The handle is a sleek gold which is gorgeous, but I would say it's maybe a little too long in my opinion. Minor detail though - great brush, it is £22.
Next, the Pointed Crease eye brush:
The name of this brush is slightly misleading as it isn't really pointed. Great for a smoky eye look, it feels lovely and the bristles are densely packed. This brush is in silver as are all the Bold Metals eye brushes (the face ones are gold and contouring and blush brushes are copper). This one is £12.
Check out the full range at Boots. The brushes are £10 - £25 and look stunning - would be a great addition to anyone's brush collection!
