Only Fingers and Toes

Last night I attended an incredible event for luxury nail polish brand, Only Fingers and Toes (OFAT).

First up, their amazing gift sets. Pricey mind you (the two-tier 24 polish set is £275), but absolutely gorgeous, and now I've tried the polish, worth every penny. They are also '5-free' - basically free from all nasty ingredients.

Next up, and perhaps the most exciting, was the nail polish mixing station. Choose a nail polish, more than one if you're feeling experimental, some glitter and they will mix it for you for the manicurists to apply professionally. Some may say too much choice - over 60 shades!

I changed my mind every couple of minutes, but I finally settled on a pearly grey shade called Mad Max with a blue-grey glitter on my accent nail.

Stunning. The best thing? This is a one-coater. Absolutely no need for two coats which shows the quality and also makes a mani super speedy. I'm very impressed.

Finally, a nail red carpet - I couldn't resist. A great event for an incredibly exciting brand. Check them out!

Only Fingers and Toes are £16 a polish, available from Harvey Nichols.

No.7 Match Made Lipstick Service

I've seen a lot of hype about this so yesterday in Boots I thought why not give it a go?

No.7 have just launched a lipstick matching service. They scan your face to identify your skin tone, which then gives you a list of lipsticks which perfectly match your complexion. When there are so many lipsticks to choose from, this aims to help you pick the ones which will work best for you.

I was foundation shade Calico which then provided me with these to choose from:

As you can see you have a lot to choose from, so it's then up to you to go through them and see which you like the look of. I chose three different shades, including two of their matte look ones, but my favourite was from the Moisture Drench collection, called Soft Paprika.

A slightly off-red, it definitely isn't a shade I would normally choose but it looks pretty darn good. Think I may have found my perfect red - this service definitely works!

Worth a go - it's a free service, so why not try it out? Find out more here

Colbert MD Intensify Facial Discs

My first foray into the Colbert MD world is with these tiny little pads that do a lot for your skin...

Skin looking a little dull? Didn't look after your skin too well over the summer? Speed up it's recovery and renewal with these. Containing enzymes and acids, simply wipe the pads over cleansed skin for up to a minute, rinse and go.

Use them up to three times a week to give your skin a real boost. I definitely saw a difference when I woke up the next morning. My skin looked fresher, radiant and healthy.

One warning - make sure you rinse this off immediately. I left it on a while (forgot to read the instructions properly didn't I!) and I could feel my skin starting to tingle. Means these little pads pack a punch!

They are pricey (£52 for 20 discs from SpaceNK) but I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

NOTW: Stargazer Nail Polish 516

I've gone a little wintery this week. Stargazer 516 is a deep slate grey.

You definitely need two coats of polish to build the perfect colour, but the brush means you don't put too much on and get bubbles in the polish. I really like grey nails and now the nights are drawing in it feels more appropriate. In the summer grey nails would feel wrong!

The only thing that annoys me is Stargazer just give numbers to their nail polishes. I like a name. But that doesn't detract from it being a great polish for the price - only £3.50. See the full collection here

What do you think? Too soon for wintery nails?!

Top Beauty Trends for SS15 from London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week is over for another season. I'm always looking at the hair and make-up more than the clothes, and there have been some great looks for SS15. Here are my top picks:

Matthew Williamson - Hibiscus Eyes

The legend that is Charlotte Tilbury created gorgeous 'hibiscus eyes' (lilac to you and me). If blue eyes are for AW14, then for SS15 it turns to purple. Simply gorgeous and very simple to try at home!

Burberry - Matte Burgundy Lips

Burberry is always a huge show. Again, I'm looking at the beauty over the fashion. Hair and eyes were very natural. Lips took centre stage with matte burgundy lips stealing the show. Burgundy is a strange choice for Spring/Summer but who am I to argue with Burberry?!

Tom Ford - Smokey Eyes

When does this ever go out of fashion. And hallelujah for that! Love the sexiness of this. Definitely a night time look.

Marchesa - Casual Waves

What has been a trend throughout a lot of shows this LFW is that much of the hair has been very understated, very relaxed, very easy! Loving it.

Brilliant all round, well done all at LFW. I'll finish on a fashion note - one thing I have noticed is how flats are back - YES!!!!

Which trend are you most excited about for SS15?

All About Oils

As the seasons change, I notice my whole body becoming a lot drier. As soon as that central heating is turned on in a month or two it will suck out even more of the moisture from the air. Now is the time for oils. Hair, body, nail, face - the works! Here are my top picks:

First up on the far left is the PhytoPlage Sublime Oil. A true multi-tasker, the hair company has produced a gorgeous oil that can be used to nourish hair and the body as well! Marketed more as an after-sun oil to soothe sun-damaged hair and skin, this can be used all year round as a powerful oil to soothe really dry skin. £26.50 available from Cult Beauty

Next is the new Purely Pampering range from Dove. Their Pistachio Body Oil smells so BEAUTIFUL I love it so much! Not much more to say except it sinks into the skin quickly, isn't greasy at all and the smell...bliss. Only £5.99 from Boots right now.

My favourite facial oil has to be Trilogy's Rosehip Oil. Packed to the brim with powerful antioxidants, your skin will thank you for using this. Trilogy is a brand I really love. All natural, the Kiwis know how to make organic skincare that truly works. A little goes a long way with this award-winner. One to have on your dressing table. Only £14.85 from FeelUnique

Bio-Oil. I couldn't do an oil round-up without including the original, the one that started it all. It can be used to work wonders on scars, stretch marks, etc but it can also simply take care of any dry skin. I love putting it on cuticles. A quality product with plenty of oils and vitamins inside. Currently £14.99 for 200ml at Boots

Finally, The Body Shop have a great range of Beautifying Oils and the Shea Beautifying Oil is amazing. I must like nutty scents as this is just as gorgeous as the pistachio Dove oil! This one is for everywhere - skin, nails, body and hair. Shea Oil is the main oil involved but there are plenty of others to moisturise skin and leaving it feeling and looking great. Only £9 online and in store.

So there you have it. My Top Five oils for this transitional period of summer into autumn which can draw the moisture from your skin, hair and nails.

Do you use oils? Which is your favourite?

NOTW: Collection Lasting Gel Nail Polish in Goldfinger

This week I'm embracing metallics!

The new range by Collection gives a gel-like finish without the damage real gels do. The best thing? The wide brush which makes applying this a dream. So quick and easy. Goldfinger is a dark gold that you need two coats for.

With flash:

And without:

My only downside is that even though it says it won't chip due to the gel finish, I found this polish chipped after only one day. Just a tiny bit, but enough to notice *sad face*

Still a great colour and the brush makes for an incredibly quick manicure. You can view the full range at Boots

NEW The Body Shop Instablur Eye

Mark the 17th September in your diary to head down to The Body Shop and pick up the latest addition to their Instablur range - Instablur Eye.

Instablur was a huge hit. The primer to give you the flawless base for perfect looking skin, I reviewed it here.

Now The Body Shop are turning their attention to the delicate eye area. The Instablur Eye is being hailed as the first all-in-one eye primer. It conceals dark circles as it has a yellow colour, primes the eye area and enhances eyeshadow colour whilst also preventing creasing throughout the day. It contains Marula Oil, specially formulated for the sensitive eye area and to create a blurring effect.

It feels like silk, just like the face Instablur. It conceals dark circles to a certain extent, but mine needed a little more concealer unfortunately! The best thing about this is that it makes eyeshadow and liner last a lot longer and makes the colour you apply really 'pop'. It will be £10, available online and in stores from the 17th September.

Trying the Blue Eye Trend...

One of the biggest beauty trends for AW14 is blue eyes, whether it is liner, shadow or mascara.

Whilst speaking to a make-up artist last week I asked about blue eyeshadows and whether I could pull the look off. "If you mix with grey" was the answer and I immediately thought of the Topshop eyeshadow duo I had in my drawer!

I used the grey shadow first as a base and then applied the blue. It is pigmented yet subtle. You could build the product to create more of an effect but this was my daytime look so I didn't go too crazy. You could also wet your make-up brush to create a more intense blue.

Not too 80's, I really like this and could definitely get on board with the blue eye trend. I'd recommend this eyeshadow duo to those with similar colouring to me who may need the grey to tone down the blue a tad.

It is called Time Off, from Topshop, only £6! I'm now very tempted to give more of their blue make-up a go...

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Tease

Illamasqua's new lipstick collection is all about finding your perfect nude lippy. As I have quite a warm complexion, one of lipsticks in the new Glamore range that was recommended to me was Tease.

As you would expect from a high-end brand, the colour is really pigmented and rich. It also contains Vitamin E so it won't dry out your lips which is my ultimate bugbear with lipsticks. It leaves a satin finish so not glossy but not matte either.

It is a great classic nude. However, you definitely need to blot it a few times after application as there is quite a lot of residue left behind. Definitely not one you can apply on the go easily. However, it feels really nice and lasts a long time. It does transfer onto mugs so after a few cups of tea I noticed a lot of the colour was gone, but apart from lip stains I don't know any lipsticks that don't transfer.

All in all a great nude lipstick. Apply in the morning, blot and go!

£18.50, find your perfect Glamore nude here

NOTW: HJ Manicure in Blue Lagoon

New brand alert!!

This week I've painted my nails with Blue Lagoon from HJ Manicure. A new brand, it is free from Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Di-butyl phthalate and Camphor, and is also vegan friendly. I should be more conscious about the chemicals I might be putting on my nails and if there is a choice between a nail polish with nasties and one without, I'm sure everyone would go for the latter.

So does it compare to the more mainstream nail polishes?

It is really gorgeous colour. You might be able to just use one coat as it is very pigmented, but I used two to get to this solid deep blue. It was very fast drying which is always a bonus. However I have noticed a few chips after wearing it for not very long.

Blue Lagoon is part of their Holiday collection. And why not? It's supposed to get more summery this week!

I look forward to trying more of the range. The HJ Manicure polishes are £9.50 from www.hjmanicure.com Check it out to see the full range of colours available.

My New Home

Something slightly different from me today. I took some time off from my blog recently as I was buying and moving into my new home. I've been here over a month now. It's not completely finished, very much a work-in-progress, but what I love are the pictures I have put up...

A good motto to live by:

Queenstown painting, my favourite place after London:

Lots of London love:

Vintage mirror:

Then the beauty bits I have, including my soon to be overflowing lipstick bowl...

Candles, candles everywhere!

My rings and bracelets on a vintage tray:

And my necklaces and *some* of my beauty products (the rest are tucked away out of sight!)

I love having my own place. As well as it being such a massive life milestone, it's just amazing to have my own space, be able to decorate everything how I want and slowly create a home. I even have a new cat!

So many things I want to do, and Pinterest gives me far too many ideas, but I think this is a good start.

NOTW: Models Own Cornflower Gleam and Duck Speckled Egg

Friday I headed to Birchbox's Manithon to raise money for breast cancer charity Coppafeel. Models Own were there doing the nails so my manicure this week is courtesy of them.

A beautiful bold blue, Cornflower Gleam is part of their Hypergel range so it is super shiny which I hope you can see in the pic. Then as a feature nail they used Duck Blue which is part of the Speckled Egg range from Models Own. I've never tried either of these ranges but I do love Models Own and these polishes haven't disappointed me!

Here are some more pics from the event...

I hope it was a success, it seemed so from all the people there. Let's hope they do another one for such a great charity.
