NEW Barry M Nail Paint in Mermaid

This week I'm rocking another nail polish from the new Aquarium collection from Barry M. This one is an ultimate glitter…

Blue, green and gold glitter flecks go into making this Mermaid nail polish. You can use it on its own or to jazz up another nail polish. I used it on its own initially, and it took two coats to get to this effect:

Pretty, and from afar it just looks like a shimmery teal polish. Here it is closer up…

It's really pretty and catches the light well. Like most glitters, you need to dab the polish on rather than paint. I think this is great for a night out, but for day time it could be a bit too much. Also some of the flecks don't sit completely flat which annoyed me after a while!

Let me know what you think,

Dove Purely Pampering Event

Oh this may just be the best smelling event I've ever been to!

Some of it is embargoed (sorry) but needless to say Dove has done good. Set at a suite in the St. Martin's Lane Hotel, it was pure pampering. A hand massage and I wanted to dive into this bed!

Pistachios everywhere and the most gorgeous macaroons and truffles...

As you would expect from Dove, great quality bodycare products which smell incredible and are deeply moisturising...more to come soon!

Vichy Dermablend Event

Thought I'd show you some pics from some recent events and launches I've been to. First up, the Vichy Dermablend event. The Vichy Dermablend range has been going a long time, and most people think of it as for scars, acne, any major skin problems. But it really just gives you great-looking skin and even skin tone which I'm all for!

Vichy are launching their new Dermablend Body - great for summer when you're showing more skin. Take a look at this tattoo before and after...

Pretty impressive huh? As well as the body product there was the rest of the range on show. The foundation compact:

The foundation sticks to target certain areas (for me, my broken capillaries on my cheeks)

And the setting powder for all skin tones

Plus pretty flowers, just because...

Gorgeous. Great event, good to show how amazing these products are (they ran a video where they used Dermablend to completely cover a man who had tattoos ALL over his body) as well as how they can be used by everyone everyday. Can't wait to try!

Superdrug Beauty Haul

Sometimes I just get that itch to buy lots of new beauty products. I had a field day in Superdrug recently and thought I'd show you what I bought, the offers were too good to resist!

The first temptation was Barry M nail paints at 2 for £6. The new Aquarium collection caught my eye. I've got plenty of shimmery teal nail polishes so even though I love that colour (called Pacific in this collection), I went for something different. Mediterranean is a two-tone metallic pink and gold nail polish which I thought was really different and have on this week. Then Mermaid is a glitter polish of different blues and greens - gorgeous!

Once I plumped for one offer, I just think I might as well go for them all…

Next up, Bourjois had a deal of if you spent over £12 you received a free eyeshadow or blusher pot. I've had my eye on the chocolate bronzer for a long time but never got round to buying it so that was a must. Then I'd heard great things about their Healthy Balance powder. Over £12 - done. I'm quite loyal to my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette for eyeshadows so decided on a blusher instead.

Third deal - buy the new L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara and get a free eyeliner! Well how could I resist?! Love trying new mascaras and I'm a firm believer that eyeliner makes everything better. I went for the Super Liner Blackbuster which I can't wait to try.

What have you bought recently?

The Body Shop Skin Primer

One of the products I've been absolutely loving the past few weeks and I wanted to share it with you.

Primers are one of those things I often think is maybe an unnecessary step but then if I stop using it I definitely notice a difference. However, some primers don't agree with my skin, especially if they're for oily skin so I was a little dubious this one would work for me. It has a mattifying effect to stop any sheen throughout the day.

A clear gel, the best thing about this primer? It rubs in to leave your skin feeling like velvet. So ridiculously smooth you might spend 10 minutes just rubbing your face. No, seriously! The feel of this primer is incredible.

It contains deeply moisturising Marula Oil to nourish skin as well as keeping your make-up in place all day. I love it. Suitable for all skin types and tones, it costs £12. Check it out here

Has anyone else tried this primer?

NEW Barry M Mediterranean Nail Paint

Part of the new Aquarium collection, I spied this in Superdrug on Friday and couldn't resist! Called Mediterranean, like an oil-effect it has flashes of rose gold and pure gold.

It is unlike any other shade I've seen before and really love the two-toned nature of this polish - I'm easily pleased!

Very hard to get on camera but I hope you can see the look here.

£3.99 and Barry M nail polishes are currently 2 for £6 at the moment - too tempting!

Hot and Not

Hot:

Bobbi Brown Raw Sugar Collection - how pretty!! Making their classic Shimmer Bricks into an eyeshadow palette, it will be £35, launching at counters in May. Sure it will be a sell-out

Baby Oil - it's key to Beyonce's glow according to news this week. Anything that she does…

The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Range - I'm just drooling over this in anticipation of how amazing it will smell. It launched this week, including a Body Butter, Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Body Scrub and Eau de Toilette - check it out now!

Not:

Cougar Cheek Lift - are you a cougar? Do you have sunken cheeks? This press release did the rounds this week and caused offence to many. Can we stop with the Cougar beauty products please

Sprunch - another press release that made me go, What now? Is this really a thing. Apparently so. A spa brunch. I'm not averse to either of these things, in face very much enjoy both but a 'sprunch' sounds horrible!

No Make-Up Selfie - never it seems has a charity campaign caused everyone to be in such different camps. Those who see no problem with this, and those who believe there is a much better way to get people to donate money, especially with the news this week that selfies are causing more people to turn to plastic surgery. Also it has spurred the hideous c*ck in sock pics. Either way, people are talking about the campaign and it's raised an amazing amount of money already. Do it, but just remember to donate as well.

Why I Love Epsom Salt Baths So Much...

Oh Epsom salts, how do I love thee - let me count the ways…

I've been having Epsom salt baths for a few months now and I'm officially obsessed! I live near Epsom, and who would have thought this little Surrey town would produce this natural wonder.

Essentially these salts are Magnesium Sulphate. Putting some into a bath can:

  • Relieve stress
  • Soothe aches and pains
  • Relax muscles
  • Reduce bloating
  • Improves sprains and bruises
  • Help skin problems
  • Draw toxins from the body
  • Helps prevent hardening of arteries and blood clots
  • Enhance production of insulin, therefore helping diabetics

Pretty impressive list for a bunch of salt eh? There are even more - some people take a spoonful to help with constipation - there are also some more beauty benefits. However, I just bathe in it.

I first started when I had terrible neck and back pain. I have mild arthritis in my neck as well as my shoulder muscles tend to go into spasm when I'm stressed but painkillers weren't doing anything.

I got some Epsom salts from a pharmacy and haven't looked back. There might be a slight placebo effect (but if it helps, who cares) but I believe it really has helped with the pain. I put 500g of the stuff into a bath and relax for at least 10 minutes. The magnesium and sulphate are easily absorbed into the skin in that time.

Many Hollywood stars credit Epsom salt baths as a pre-red carpet ritual to minimise any bloating so it has beauty benefits as well as health. Some people also use the salt as an exfoliator, and some mix it with conditioner to give extra volume to the hair.

A truly wondrous product and 100% natural - I have now just ordered 25 kilos of it. I try to have at least two baths a week so I know I'll get through it all!

I would recommend this to anyone. Even if you don't have a specific condition, it generally just relaxes you, eliminates toxins and leaves you and your body in a better condition. I get mine from here

Anyone else an Epsom salt lover?

NEW Burt's Bees Lip Colours!

Burt's Bees has always been one of my favourite lip balms. I've got their little pot in my handbag and their new(ish) Blueberry and Dark Chocolate balm by my bed (check out my review of that here)

So when I heard they were launching colour I was very intrigued. And they have gone the whole hog with this launch - not just one type of colour, FOUR varieties in endless colour options!

First up, their natural Lip Glosses. Available in 12 colours, they contain jojoba, sunflower and botanical oils. They also smell really nice with a subtle vanilla scent.

Love the honeycomb detail on the lid! As you would expect with a gloss, they give a subtle hint of colour and moisturise the lips - £8.99

Even prettier in the sun!

Next up, we have their natural Lip Shines. Think of them as very similar to Juicy Tubes. These are available in six shades and are super sheer. Great for the summer!

If you like gloss, these are definitely for you - £6.99

Next we have their new natural Tinted Lip Balms with beeswax, shea butter and a hint of colour. These are available in nine different colours.

My only negative comment on this one would be the unnecessary packaging to house the lip balm.

Love this colour, it's called Pink Blossom. A subtle pink - why wouldn't you have a lip balm that also has colour, is 100% natural and deeply moisturises?! £5.99

Finally, the new Lip Shimmer shades. I have Cherry here, but there are 11 colours available to choose from.

Pretty similar to the tinted lip balm, it just has an added sparkle to the colour, plus this contains Peppermint Oil which gives a cooling tingle to your lips. £5.99

Overall, I'm loving this new range. It's a natural extension for Burt's Bees but still in keeping with their brand as every product is 100% natural.

Take a look at the full extensive range here

BECCA Mineral Blush in Flowerchild

This is a product I've been loving the past couple of months and have finally found the time to write about it!

The first product I've ever tried from BECCA, but as I'm getting older and more conscious about what I put on my skin, I'm trying to use more mineral make-up.

Called Flowerchild, on the website it says it's peachy pink. At first glance it looks more 'pinky pink' but once you swatch it, it is a soft peach.

This is me before…

And with blush…

Ignore the background! As you can see it's very subtle but incredibly pretty. I have rosy cheeks anyway so haven't tended to use blush in the past but this just accentuates the rosiness! If you're going to use blush, why not use a mineral one that's kind to skin and also lasts all day? Would definitely recommend this.

I got mine from SpaceNK - £26 from here

Top Five Spring Nails

Spring has finally sprung and I thought I'd do a run-down on my top spring nails!

The Nails Inc one is a gorgeous lavender blue that came free with InStyle magazine a couple of years ago. I wear it so much, it's one of those rare polishes I probably will completely use up!

Then the new Silk nail paints by Barry M are beautiful. The green one in Meadow is a very pretty alternative to a mint green and the textured finish gives it something extra.

Essie in Avenue Maintain may be bordering on a summer bright polish but I love my blues!

Sainsbury's Boutique nail polish range is wonderful and this cool coral, Cross Your Fingers, is perfect for these sunny days. This is the polish I went for this week, I hadn't tried it yet and absolutely in love!

Finally in the Top Five is Paul & Joe no. 31, the most gorgeous pink which is soft rather than being too bold - great for this season.

What are your fave Spring nails?
