What's Hot; What's Not

It's been a goooood week...

Hot:

New Barry M Polishes - these look absolutely heavenly! Spring is on its way with these pastel mattes…they will be in stores from 19th Feb (I've already marked it in my calendar)

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil - this new product launched on Tuesday. I love The Body Shop Vitamin E range, it's great for all skin types, contains powerful ingredients and this new serum (£12) is no different. Can't wait to try it

Eve Lom Complexion Collection - OMG I gasped when I saw this. I LOVE Eve Lom, especially the cleanser and mask, so when I heard they are launching foundations, tinted moisturisers, concealers and bronzers I was ridiculously excited. From £30 in SpaceNK and online from next month!

Not:

'Official Scent of LFW' - announced this week, there is apparently an official scent for London Fashion Week. Hmmm

Enrique Iglesias - The Perfume - I am SO over celeb perfumes. If you're interested, this is due to come out in the summer and Enrique hopes it makes people 'feel empowered' - VOM

Earlobe Plastic Surgery - news this week that this is the latest craze, as women find their earlobes sagging as they get older. If all you have to worry about and spend your money on is your sagging earlobes, I think you've done pretty well. And don't be so silly.

What To Buy in SpaceNK for £50

So just before Christmas I had a £50 SpaceNK voucher and I looked on their website for HOURS as well as popping into the store for inspiration. I had to use it by Christmas Eve but I didn't want to just waste £50 in SpaceNK so the pressure was on.

What do you buy?? I always tend to go for skincare but this time I really fancied some good-quality make-up.

Google led me to two raved-about products. The Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder and the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil range.

The one colour I kept coming across over and over again was the so-called 'perfect red' called Dragon Girl.

I used to definitely be a lip gloss girl but as I've got older and perhaps matured, I'm loving matte lips. And this is a gorgeous shade!

I've been wearing it a LOT with many compliments - full review coming ASAP.

Now onto the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. When you search the Internet for anything to do with contouring this one keeps coming up as the best. The perfect shade, long-lasting, easy to use - it sounds wonderful.

Again, I've been using it this week and loving it. It's subtle - don't expect to look as though you have razor-sharp cheekbones - but it gives a little bit of definition that's beautiful. Again, review very soon.

So there we go - NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl (£17.50) and Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder (£35). I went £2.50 over my voucher but worth every penny.

What would you buy in SpaceNK if you had £50?

Birthday Beauty!

It was my birthday whilst I was away, so when I got back I had a 'second' birthday where my parents spoilt me rotten! Here is what I got…

As my birthday is so soon after Christmas I often get gift sets for my birthday which I don't mind at all. First up, the philosophy sugar plum fairy set.

Inside are the most gorgeous smelling products ever! A bubble bath/shower gel combo and a yummy lip gloss that smells so good you want to eat it.

Next the phil smith hot air brush. I confess I'm lazy with my hair, I barely spend any time on it. So this may take some practise - anyone used it before?

I am OBSESSED with Alien perfume. I got a bottle for Christmas so when I saw this gift set I was a bit confused. But I can never have enough Alien.

I now have another bottle of the perfume plus body lotion and shower gel - heaven.

Not strictly beauty, but here are some other presents I got!

So lucky. I can't wait to try them all!

NOTW: Spring Pastel Nails

This week I decided to go for a pastel nail polish which shows Spring is around the corner - I never want pastel nails any other time!

So I plumped for a Nails Inc colour I hadn't tried in ages, Portobello Road. A baby blue colour, I believe Nails Inc have stopped selling it now though.

A gorgeous shade, this is the polish with two coats

All good. Except it chipped almost immediately :-( I had it on Sunday and yesterday and had to change it last night as it looked so awful. Such a shame.

If you know of any similar shades which last better let me know!

What's Hot; What's Not

Hot:

Diptyque Skincare - this news came out this week. A bit of a strange extension from the candle brand but if the skincare smells as amazing as their candles and fragrances I'm sold! As soon as I have more info I'll let you guys know

Guerlain Blanc de Pearl range - how pretty! Available at counters from 28th February, I've had my eye on Meterorites powder pearls for so long I may have to be tempted…

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms - launched into Boots this week, I've already got one - a gorgeous pink called Showy. I've recently got very into my lipsticks, especially matte so this is gorgeous. It's really moisturising too, £7.99 in Boots nationwide and online

Not:

Duncan Bannatyne Skincare - erm, so the 'dragon' is launching his skincare range into Tesco. Not really sure anyone wants to look like him. Sorry Dunc

Sugar Obsession - I came back from holiday last weekend to this furore over sugar. I understand cakes, chocolate, etc but there are good sugars in fruit and carbohydrates. Let's not get silly like the whole Atkin's thing…

Jetlag - I've been so knackered by about 9pm every night. Any tips to overcome jet lag gratefully received!

Vietnam Beauty

So I've just returned from 3 weeks travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia. AMAZING. Go. Immediately.

I was interested to see what their beauty products were like. As with most of Asia, whitening is the big thing over there. Every single moisturiser, body wash, etc says whitening.

They want to be white, white, white. Not so much in Cambodia, but Vietnam certainly - staying out of the sun is imperative and these products help remove any tan people may have got.

Another big thing is collagen. I saw signs for collagen tea, coffee, as well as so many boxes of collagen pills in various strengths.

Also, one brand I came across in Cambodia and absolutely loved is called bodia. All natural, everything is made in Cambodia.

As with most Asian beauty brands it's not just about the beauty. Wellbeing is more important and all these products have both beauty and health benefits. The Miraculous Herbal Balm smelt amazing packed with different herbs and spices

Rice is everywhere as you can imagine, and they make use of it as a natural exfoliant in their products with different local scents such as Kaffir lime and coffee.

Currently they are just in Cambodia but with an online shop coming soon (not sure how much shipping would be though). Check them out here

I found it all very interesting and whilst I won't be going for whitening products (already white enough!) I would be interested to see if the collagen pills actually do anything, plus I'm a big fan of natural beauty so glad to see this is important all over the world!

Quick Cleansing - Guest Post

Today I've got something special for you whilst I'm away. Jemma from The Name of Beauty has kindly written a guest post - enjoy!

Hi there! My names Jemma and I blog over at The Name Of Beauty! I was excited when Christina asked for guest bloggers so I got to work on my post pretty quickly and here it is!
As soon as the weather turns colder I get a bit lazy. The second I get home I look for the quickest way to get my make-up off, get into pjs and wrap myself in a little cocoon in my duvet. I've been doing it for a few weeks now so I like to consider myself a pro at it. Here are the products that get reached for when I'm feeling that extra bit lazy.

I go through Bioderma like no ones business. It's gentle but at the same time gets rid of make-up in a flash and feels just like water on the skin. Sometimes I'll just soak this on a cotton pad, sweep it across my face and be done with it (I may go to beauty jail for that one) You can get your own off eBay for around £10 but I know La Roche Posay and L'Oreal do their own take on a micellar water which are exactly the same and also on the cheaper side!

If I'm wearing a waterproof mascara or just a bit more make-up than usual I'll call upon my L'Oreal Cleansing Oil. Massaged onto dry skin this oil dissolves make-up in seconds - literally. Buffed off with a hot flannel and it's pyjama time. The oils also helps to hydrate and make my skin feel a bit more plump and it's a bargain at £7.99 (but if you're quick it's currently only £5 at boots!) If you want to see my full review on the cleansing oil have a look here - http://www.thenameofbeauty.co.uk/2013/12/loreal-15-second-miracle-cleansing-oil.html
