June Glossybox

See what's in this month's Glossybox...
Inside there is:
  • So Susan Universal Blush
  • Nailgirls 3 in 1
  • Teeez Flat Stiff Brush
  • Got2Be Rise n Shine Soufflé
  • Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Discovery Ritual
The thing I love about beauty boxes is discovering new brands. I've never come across So Susan and this blush is *so* pretty (see what I did there?!) - a very pretty soft shimmer rose that looks just gorgeous blended across the cheekbone.
I love a multi-tasker - I've been using this 3-in-1 basecoat, topcoat and nail strengthener the past week and loving it.
I have yet to use this but it's another new brand to me. They use natural hair to give the very best results.
A hair soufflé - why not! The light and airy texture is great, as well as being pink, it gives volume and shine.
The Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier contains a shower cream, body lotion and fragrance. Supposed to be reminiscent of a 'walk through a Mediterranean garden' it certainly sounds good!

A great beauty box this month from Glossybox with some great new discoveries and all for just £10. Take a look further here

The Body Shop Instablur

With everyone filtering their selfies to the max on Instagram it was only a matter of time before products emerged that give you skin that looks good enough without any filter. That is what the new Instablur product from The Body Shop promises.
All-in-One Instablur is a great primer. In one clear shade so that it suits absolutely everyone, it contains Vitamin E to hydrate and 'mattifying spherical powders' to smooth and refine.
I don't tend to get very oily skin, but if you do this promises 12 hour shine control. The best thing is creating the perfect base for applying your make-up. Especially in summer in the heat, it keeps make-up in place for as long as possible.
The perfect multi-tasker!
£14 from The Body Shop

NEW Paul & Joe NAil Polish 09 Mata Hari

Nails this week are super summery! Paul & Joe in Mata Hari...
Part of their beautiful Summer 2014 range, this is a gorgeous coral shade with a slight shimmer to it. Here it is after two coats:
I'm not sure whether it could have done with another coat. You can see the whites of my nails still through two coats but I still love the shade. Perfect for summer, it would look fantastic with a tan!

Events of the Week - Paul & Joe and Rituals

This week I've been invited to some great events which I wanted to share with you.
First up, Paul & Joe with the amazing make-up artist Craig Ryan French.
It was a make-up masterclass using all the new Paul & Joe summer collection. Paul & Joe is known for having the prettiest products and this range is no exception - the Ice Cream collection is be-au-tiful!
The best tip I learnt? Highlighting your brow bone will add 10 years to your face. OMG, I always thought it added radiance but no, as women age their brow bone becomes more pronounced and that is what you're doing if you add highlighter there...stop doing it NOW!
Next up, Rituals summer evening to launch their new White Lotus and Bergamot range.
Turned out we were giving flower arranging a go! I absolutely loved it.
Here mine before...
And after!
What do you think? Have I missed my calling?!
Full product reviews to come...

Hot and Not

The best and worst beauty news from this week...
Look Good Feel Better 'On the Move' - this amazing cancer charity is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a nationwide roadshow, visiting over 20 cities and pampering and caring for cancer patients across the UK. They were recently in my neck of the woods, to see full details go to
Glossybox Jet-Setter Box - perfect minis for jetting away this summer, this is only £10! Available for the whole month of June, check out all the details here
Footner Daily Repair Cream - I am OBSESSED with the Footner socks, they are incredible, I swear everyone should try them - I should do their PR I'm so fanatical about them! Now Footner are launching their own cream to intensely hydrate the feet and keep them looking their very best during sandal and flip-flop season. Available at Boots, £8.49 here
Colleen Rooney and Comfort - a very random partnership announced this week. Surely she's not that short of cash!!
A Third One Direction Fragrance - kill. me. now.
Porexia - over half of women are claiming to suffer with this - a fixation on the size of their pores. I really hope this isn't the case - nobody else notices your pores except you! There are many other more important things to worry about.
What do you think of this week's beauty news?

My Favourite Red Lipstick - for the Red Lippy Project

So this week is the Red Lippy Project for Cervical Screening Awareness Week. The facts - cervical screening saves lives. Yet many women put it off and just don't bother. It isn't pleasant, but it's a minute of being uncomfortable which could save your life. Wouldn't you just suck it up and do it?!
So in honour of this great cause I decided to write a post on my favourite red lippy of all time - the NARS Matte Velvet Lip Pencil in Dragongirl.
I first tried this gorgeous lipstick in Winter but it works for all seasons. It's super pigmented, lasts aaaaaages, and is a bold shade that really suits my blonde hair/blue eyes/fair skin combo

The only issue I have with this lipstick is sharpening it. It is so difficult without wasting loads of the product :(
Bar that, this is a beautiful lipstick and I encourage everyone to dig out their favourite red lippy this week!
And make sure you text RLIP14 £2 to 70070

NOTD: Topshop Sweet Nothings

This is the first time I've tried a Topshop nail polish and I'm impressed! This is a beautiful lavender blue called Sweet Nothings...
You could get away with just one coat but two coats gives you this great even shade:
Gorgeous in the sunshine, it's rocking my world right now. I've had this on for 5 days and no chips - almost unheard of!

Hot and Not

Chanel Butterfly Garden - as part of the Selfridges Beauty Project, Chanel has launched a gorgeous Butterfly Garden pop-up until 18th June. Complete with swing and fake grass, you can have a free makeover, choosing from one of three different summer looks. I can't wait to check it out!

OPI Nordic Collection AW14 - inspired by Finland, Norway and Denmark, this new collection announced this week will launch in September. Take a look at this sneak peak and decide which colour is for you!

The Red Lippy Project - launching Monday for Cervical Screening Awareness Week, wear your red lippy to support this great cause. Topshop have even created a special edition lippy for them with 30% of proceeds going directly to the charity. £8, available from Monday, use #redlippyproject to help spread the word

Katie Price for ColourB4 - oh dear God. No, just no...

Trenchcoat fragrance - Burberry has announced its new perfume takes inspiration from its classic trenchcoat. It's Burberry, so it will definitely do well, especially as the campaign will include Cara and Kate, but damp trenchcoat is not really something I want to smell like!

Rihanna Too Raunchy - her ad for her new perfume, Rogue, could be banned for being too raunchy - something you'd probably expect from the woman who is usually in a state of near nakedness. But with young girls looking to her as a role model, perhaps she needs to tone it down just a smidge...

As always, please let me know your thoughts on Hot and Not this week

BECCA Lip Priming Perfector

There have been face and eyelid primers in my regime for a while now but I haven't really considered a lip primer. Until I tried the one from BECCA.
Like all primers this is as smooth as silk. It's yet another step to add to your beauty routine but I believe it's worth it.
This is a neutral shade so it won't affect what lipstick or gloss you put on. It definitely made my lipstick last longer. Not all day - I still had to reapply, but not as often. This also contains hyaluronic acid to plump up lips and decrease any fine lines around the lips - bonus!
A great product to try if you like a bright lipstick at the moment. £19 (will last forever!), I got mine from SpaceNK

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude Foundation

As I've got older I've unfortunately found that I need a little bit more coverage when it comes to my base. Previously a little bit of tinted moisturiser or BB cream would do, but now I need a little bit more *sigh*
I want fuller coverage but I still don't want to 'feel' I'm wearing anything and my skin can't breathe. An Elizabeth Arden sales woman pounced on me one day in Boots and matched me with my perfect shade for this new foundation from Elizabeth Arden
Too right Elizabeth!
As soon as I tried my little tester pot I knew I would be buying the full size bottle. It goes on really evenly, covers imperfections and redness, yet is light, moisturising, and crucially I can't feel it sitting on my skin. Everything I'm looking for in a base.
I know the skin analysing gadget thing is nothing new but it really does work - this is the most perfectly matched foundation I've ever tried! Plus trying to navigate all the shades yourself would be madness. Another bonus - it has SPF 15 in it.
I really recommend this, get down to Boots and get colour matched now. Try a sample, then the full size is £28 from Boots

New Brand Alert - essence

Last week I was invited to a preview of a new make-up launch. Europe's number one make-up range, essence, is coming to the UK.
Launching into Westfield London today, and then into Wilko stores nationwide at the end of this month, essence is an incredibly impressive make-up range. The number of products they have is amazing, from a wonderful nail polish selection, to nail art tools, to foundations, primers, blushers, mascaras, eyeliners...the list goes on.
Plus how cute are my nails?!
The best thing - the price. Nail polishes are just £1.59! I predict this to be hugely popular, you better get in there quick!
