NEW Dove Pistachio and Magnolia Purely Pampering Range

I went to the launch of this new range a couple of months ago and have been trying out both the body lotion and body wash. The smell is so incredible, I wish I could transmit it over the Internet…someone must have invented this surely?!

These are the newest additions to Dove's Purely Pampering range, and that is exactly what it is - the height of luxury when it comes to body care. The smell is intoxicating yet not too sickly sweet which is good.

For people with dry skin like me, this is a real treat. The body wash lathers up well yet doesn't make the skin feel tight, and the body lotion I just want to jump into and eat (I wouldn't recommend this though). Beautiful products.

The Pistachio and Magnolia Purely Pampering body lotion is £3.99 whilst the body wash is £2.29 - bargains!

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Coral Blush

As the weather heats up, I start to embrace coral. Looks great with a tan, is softer than orange, but quirkier than pink or red. Adore!

The Body Shop Colour Crush lipsticks launched last year and I absolutely love them. Pigmented enough yet really moisturising, they last well. Here is Coral Blush…

Great shade for summer, I'm wearing it all the time at the moment. It contains buzz ingredient of the moment, Marula Oil to deeply moisturise.

£10, check out the full range here

Let me know what you think!

Hot and Not

BritishBeautyBlogger Dream Box - cannot wait for mine to come in the post! (hopefully very soon). There were more available for this third box from Jane, the Dream Box, but it still sold out in just over 24 hours…shows just how HOT it is!

Salted Caramel Perfume - OMG how incredible! Shay & Blue have teamed with Charbonnel et Walker to create a salted caramel fragrance. Launching 1st September, I can only dream of how amazing this must smell!

Cannes Beauty - Oh Cheryl, yes you Cannes! (see what I did there). Absolutely, effortlessly gorgeous. *makes notes to try to copy look*

The new Nails Inc bottles - this week Alexa Chung was announced as the new ambassador for Nails Inc, plus a new shaped nail polish bottle. It just looks like Butter London now to me. What was wrong with the old ones?

Women Spend a Month of Their Lives Taking Selfies - research from The Body Shop this week revealed just how long on average women spend taking selfies. Unfortunately I think some people spend even longer (we all have *that* friend). The stats come at a time when they are launching Instablur, to give you flawless looking skin immediately - no need to faff about with Instagram filters - can't wait to give it a go!

World Cup Beauty - the World Cup is a great marketing opportunity for most brands, but perhaps it doesn't really go with beauty. At least I don't get it anyway. Benefit have launched their Beauty Score set to celebrate the World Cup with. Love the look of the set, I just don't see the football connection….?

As always, let me know what you think!

What's New For QVC Beauty?

Last week I headed off to see what QVC have coming up at their AW14 press day. QVC beauty has become somewhat of a phenomenon with pretty much every brand wanting to be on there. I was quite shocked at how many amazing beauty brands they currently have:

First up, Tarte, one of probably the most highly anticipated US brands to come over to the UK. They have gorgeous eyeshadow palettes launching on QVC, with beautiful, wearable shades. I'm addicted to the Naked 2 shades so these are right up my street

I finally got my hands on the Benefit They're Real Push-Up Eyeliner, and the quick try of it on the back of my hand made me even more excited to get it next month!

How gorgeous does this new Nails Inc shade look?

I absolutely adore the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and QVC have this limited edition version with Orange Flower and Chamomile - smells amazing!

Another thing I love about QVC is discovering new brands. How gorgeous does this range from Josie Maran look? An American brand, products contain Argan Oil and the little lip balm pots are perhaps the most adorable things I've ever seen…

Also the Laura Geller lip pencils are beautiful, especially this bold coral called Love Me Dew

Overall, much excitement for QVC in the upcoming months *happy face*

NOTW: Essie Mojito Madness

What better than a cocktail-inspired mani for this summery weather?! This week I've got the gorgeous Essie Mojito Madness on my nails…

Go bold or go home with this one! Two coats builds to a bright eye-catching green

And in the sun:

Beautiful! I've got a feeling this is going to become a summer polish I use again and again.

I got this, plus a couple of others, in TKMaxx as a bit of a bargain.

Hot and Not

Georgia May Jagger for Thierry Mugler - I love Thierry Mugler fragrances and this week it was announced Georgia is following in her mum's footsteps (who was the face of the brand all the way back in 1995) to be their brand ambassador. Great match!

Vogue Fashion's Night Out to Return to London - YAY! On 23rd September, along Regent Street and Oxford Street shops will be hosting special events, discounts and more! I love these nights and it's not all about fashion, there is always beauty too. Put it in your diary now.

Glossybox for Superdrug - you may have seen my post yesterday about the great beauty boxes and treats out there at the moment - this one was just announced this morning. To celebrate Superdrug going for 50 years, Glossybox are bringing out a special box with four full-size products plus samples. Only a tenner, bargain! Available now - go go go!

Being Pale - this week highlighted to me just how pale I am :-( With the sun  out and showing more skin it's all too clear I'm almost see-through pale! Fake tan needed immediately. Xen Tan came to my rescue this week

Stroke and Heart Attack from a Filler - this story during the week shocked and surprised me. From a filler, her heart stopped and she almost died. The quest for beauty is not worth it - step away from the needles…

When Bad Make-Up Happens to Good People - none of us are safe…

What do you think? Has this week been Hot or Not?

Products I've Been Loving...

Feeling the love today so wanted to spread the word on what products I've been raving about recently…

John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion Serum* - this is amazing stuff. One squirt of this put through wet hair has meant my hair is in much better condition. I tend to lose quite a lot of hair throughout the day but I've noticed while using this my hair has been a lot better. It also protects against any heat damage. Well worth a go, check it out at Boots here

Vita Liberata Skin Respect Night Balm* - this night cream is rich enough to combat my dry skin but sinks in so that it's not all wasted on the pillow! It has a whole host of organic goodness packed inside to repair and rejuvenate skin overnight. Simply gorgeous, I've almost finished the bottle. Find out more here

The Body Shop Honey and Beeswax Hand and Foot Butter* - one word - divine! Like most Body Shop products, this smells incredible, like you just want to dunk your face in it. It's been keeping my feet silky soft for a few weeks now. It is very rich so you only need a little bit and probably best for feet than hands I would say, but I would recommend this to everyone. It is £10 in stores and online

Bioderma Sensibio H2O - OK so I'm a little late to this particular party. I've only discovered the power of micellar waters this year but I instantly saw why this product has become such a phenomenon. It effortlessly gets rid of make-up whilst still being gentle and it doesn't dry out my skin at all. Winner!

Sun Awareness Week - My Relationship With the Sun

As it is Sun Awareness Week, I thought I'd chart my relationship with the sun throughout the years and what I have come to know through working in the beauty industry.

Not fussed about tanning obviously, I just wanted to play. My Mum putting suncream on me was a hassle and got in the way of play time, though she forced me to stay still for a few minutes in regular intervals. However, I would then head straight back to the pool, probably washing it all off.

One particular incident stands out - on holiday in Florida, wearing suncream on my face meant that my eyes stung when I opened them underwater. So I decided I didn't want suncream on my face. Idiot. I work up the next morning with my face a complete blister which I then had to cover in Aloe Vera and slowly it all started to peel. I basically gave myself a peel, but the amount of damage I did to my skin I don't even want to think about.

Teenage/Early Twenties:

LOVED the sun. Couldn't get enough. I'd always wear suncream but I would sit out for hours, desperately trying to get my fair English skin to tan. And it did, eventually. But there were numerous incidents of random bits of burnt skin so sore and lobster red. However, getting a tan was too important. I thought I looked better with a tan and I couldn't be bothered with the 'fuss' of fake tan. During revision, I sat outside from morning until the sun went down so that I got the maximum 'sun hours'. I even had sunbed sessions which I regret a LOT now.

I've come to respect the sun. When you work in beauty and you hear all the time how bad and ageing the sun is for you skin, you will avoid it. I try to wear SPF as much as possible and in the summer will carry it around with me to reapply. I avoid sunbathing in my garden as I just don't see the point in risking sun damage and ageing my skin when fake tans have come a long way since my teenage years, and the latest ones hardly smell, don't streak and look natural. I'm probably vitamin D deficient because I've fallen out of love with the sun.

Don't get me wrong, I still love to feel the sun on me and will sit out with friends but I'll try to keep in the shade or at least have my face out of the sun.  If I burn, I get very annoyed with myself. I love summer and sunshine makes me happy but I won't sit out for hours on end trying to get a tan. It's just not worth it and I hope my skin will look less wrinkly in years to come because of it.

Not only is there the ageing and damaging effect of the sun, but of course there is also the possibility of skin cancer. My Grandad had it, thankfully it was removed, but skin cancer is something you can have treated and be cured of if you recognise the signs:

  • a mole changing shape, particularly if the outline becomes irregular;
  • a mole changing colour – becoming darker, patchy or multi-shaded;
  • an existing mole becoming larger than 6mm (the size of the blunt end of a lead pencil) or a new mole growing quickly;
  • a mole starting to itch or become painful;
  • a mole bleeding or becoming crusty; or
  • a mole looking inflamed

(taken from

Has anyone else had the same rollercoaster relationship with the sun?!

NOTW: Boutique Away With the Fairies and Nails Inc Sloane Street

This week I decided to attempt a little bit of nail art. I initially painted my nails in just Boutique's Away With the Fairies and then decided it needed a little something extra…

Away with the Fairies is exactly what you think it would be - a shimmery, dreamy nude that is just beautiful. However, even with two coats I could still see the difference between my nail bed and tips which I didn't really like. So I decided to paint the tips in a neon pink courtesy of Nails Inc Sloane Street.

Sloane Street is a hot neon pink that is in the Nails Inc SS14 collection and I think it's a great contrast from the shimmery nude.

My hand isn't very steady so up close the tips don't look great but they're fine from afar! Here are my nails in the sun this weekend…

I'm very pleased with them. I've had to retouch the tips a bit over the weekend but that's to be expected. I may become more confident with nail art over the upcoming weeks!

Let me know what you think,

Hot and Not

Friday means it's Hot and Not time - let me know what you think!

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner - Benefit have been teasing us with this new product for a few weeks now. We knew it was an extension to the the amazing They're Real mascara and this week it was announced it is an incredible eyeliner. They spent five years developing the tip to be as easy to use and effective as possible. I love the mascara so much, I cannot wait to try! Launching in July, it will be £18.50

Selfridges The Beauty Project - need to get down to Selfridges ASAP. This launched in all of their stores yesterday and will last a month. They will have experts debating the top issues in beauty today, The Salon, as well as The Travel Shop, Male Grooming, Barber Shop and Tattoo and Piercing Parlour. The most exciting things I can't wait to see are The Fragrance Lab, where you can create your own bespoke perfume, and The Face Gym, a gym work-out for the face. Wow, there's a LOT going on for beauty at Selfridges this month!!

LUSH New Charity Pot - this week LUSH unveiled news of their new Charity Pot Hand & Body Lotion. All proceeds go towards selected charities, and last year they raised over £2.5million so here's hoping the smash that this year!

Overdone Contouring - I gasped when I saw the Emma Rigby pics from this week. She already has sharp cheekbones so this over-the-top contouring make-up makes her look quite ill :-s

OPI Neon Nail Polish Collection - this was announced this week, though if I'm honest I'm not blown away by the news. Not all that original is it?!

Cinderella Surgery - oh please God no. Apparently this surgery, where women have their feet chopped, sliced and sanded into the 'perfect' shape, is on the rise. No, no, no!

What do you think? Has it been a Hot or Not week for beauty news?
