I'm off to Peru for 2 weeks!! If any of you have been, any tips or recommendations are much appreciated. Beyond excited, follow me on Twitter and Instagram @christinaadores for updates and lots of pictures of llamas!
Need a bit of luxury in your life? This could be it. Using real 24 carat gold, retinol and algae actives, this anti-ageing moisturiser by Prai is gorgeous.
I've been using it as a night cream for when my skin needs a little bit more love to repair itself. It's left my skin feeling smoother and looking radiant - must be the gold inside. Also, the soufflé texture means it is incredibly light and sinks into your skin rather than the pillow.
Find out more about the Prai beauty range at QVC where they have a lot of exclusive deals. All products contain the special ingredient, Prai root essence, native to Thailand and used by Thai Royals for centuries. This 24K Gold Wrinkle Repair Souffle is £39.
A few months ago I went to an event with Phyto where they analysed my scalp. As scary as it sounds! Terrified I might have something awful like nits, it was actually fascinating to see your scalp so close up. Plus I was told I have a beautiful scalp - that's obviously going on the CV!
Yep, that's my scalp and hair up close and personal!
Following the analysis, we were recommended our top products and I've been using this shampoo and conditioner combo for a few weeks now.
The Phytovolume Shampoo promises body and volume, giving the look of thicker hair. It contains a lot of fancy sounding ingredients. All I know, is that it makes my hair clean without being too 'squeaky' and my hair doesn't sit flat to my scalp. Winner.
The Phytobaume Volume Conditioner thickens up the hair whilst deeply moisturising. I haven't needed to put so much Frizz Ease in my hair, and I've also noticed I've been losing less hair.
All round, a great combo for those of you with fine hair like me.
The latest range from The Body Shop smells as gorgeous as most of their other ranges. I wouldn't expect anything less!
Specially for the Xmas season, it is a very happy scent, it makes me smile (if you know what I mean)! The range includes lip balm, body butter, etc but I plumped to try the hand cream. In the Winter I go through tonnes of the stuff.
I can't emphasise this enough - it smells SO good. Sweet but not sickly sweet and really refreshing. The Body Shop have done it again.
OK, enough gushing about the fragrance. The hand cream itself is great. Not too thick so that it sinks into the skin really fast. Containing Shea Butter, it deeply moisturises - much needed now the weather has turned a whole lot colder.
At only £3.50 for this handbag-friendly size (30ml) it's a complete bargain. And I can't stop smelling my hands!!
Sometimes a nail polish comes along that you instantly love. That is what has happened this week!
The new Galatica range by Collection is beautiful. As well as nail polish there are eye liners and lip butters. I love blue nails so Blue Moon is perfect for me...
Such a gorgeous deep blue. The brush is great too - wide and short so you can control the polish well and give yourself a manicure really quickly. This is two coats:
I've had so many compliments about this colour. It is really eye-catching. The only slight bugbear - I've noticed a couple of chips after just a couple of days. But the beautiful colour more than makes up for it!
So it was recently announced that this cult product is getting its own full skincare range, so I needed to share my love for the original.
I have my friend Beauty Queen UK to thank for getting me hooked on this, as it's one of her favourite products! At first, I really wasn't sure. Things like this - snail gel, sheep placenta, bee venom, etc - all sound more like a gimmick to me than anything.
How wrong I was. It contains a unique substance snails use to regenerate its shell and skin when damaged. It contains amazing ingredients like Glycolic Acid, Collagen, Elastin and a whole load of vitamins and minerals. What's not to love? These are all amazing ingredients for our skin as well as the snails!
The gel is a great texture. Not slimy, super light and really hydrating, it sinks into skin quickly. I find it really soothing and calming on the skin. Use it as a serum so pop on a moisturiser afterwards and you're good to go. It also has a really nice smell, which could be the Aloe Vera Leaf Juice they've added in.
It's done so well that Dr. Organic have extended their Snail Gel line to include a day cream, eye serum, facial serum, hand and nail elixir and a moisture mask. In stores now!
Also, the snail gel is collected humanely in case you were worrying.
Been on public transport recently? So many people coughing, sneezing, sniffling...germs galore. It's most definitely Autumn now and with the weather changing, a lot more colds and other nasty illnesses are spreading. So here are my top vitamins to try to fend them off!
First up, Vitamin D drops. With daylight hours decreasing, getting enough Vitamin D naturally is very unlikely so I take a couple of drops each day. Vitamin D helps support bones, muscle and also your immune system.
Next, Bee Prepared Daily Defence. This award-winning formula contains bee propolis, black elderberry, olive leaf and beta glucans, this is a powerful combination to strengthen your immune system before 'cold season' hits us. £9.99 from Holland & Barrett.
Then we have iron tablets. I find I often become quite anaemic, and this seems to be quite common for women, especially around *that* time of the month. Ahem. Without enough iron, you can feel incredibly tired with zero energy. If this sounds like you, help your body out with some additional iron. I either take iron tablets, or Spatone which is a liquid shot of iron. Be careful not to take too much though, read the guidance levels carefully.
Finally, Magnesium. It doesn't get as much attention as some of the other more common vitamin supplements, but magnesium is so important. It helps control blood pressure, keep bones strong and your heart healthy. It also helps with tiredness which I definitely suffer from, probably because I'm not seeing the sun enough!
So they are my top recommendations for feeling your best this season. What supplements do you take?
When I had my lipstick matching at Boots, I was also persuaded to buy this new beauty!
No.7 have finally caught up to the matte lip trend and this is gorgeous. I love a berry shade and this is a wonderful raspberry pinky red colour. Matte, yet smooth enough to apply really easily - no dragging it along the lips. It also lasts a loooong time. Everything I'm looking for in a matte lippy.
Last week I was very fortunate to be treated to a facial by Cowshed with their new product, Anti-Ageing Perfecting Night Serum.
In their own words 'Cowshed is getting serious about skincare'. They do already have a skincare range, but it's basic.
This is them upping their game. Formulated to be busy working its magic whilst you sleep, this serum-in-oil is a gorgeous consistency and is full of some exciting ingredients:
Matrixyl to boost collagen, Vitamin C for anti-oxidants, Rosehip Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and Jojoba Oil all combining to leave skin glowing.
I obviously need to give this a go for longer in order to report back on the anti-ageing claims but I'm really excited about this. Cowshed obviously know their stuff when it comes to skin and wouldn't launch anything less than amazing.
The best thing? The fragrance. Seriously. There is Sandalwood, Green Tea and South American Copahu to soothe your skin, and your mind off to sleep!
I love matte lips but some lipsticks do have the tendency to dry my lips out. This is a moisturising gloss yet with a matte finish. Hence, oxymoron.
Deafening Silence is a subtle nude-brown shade. This gloss feels like a lip balm, goes on like a lip balm but dries matte. Just to be clear, it isn't super matte, not like a NARS lip pencil or something like that, but a hint of matte!
It is a beautiful day colour and lasts really well - it lasted through my numerous cups of tea in the morning to then be reapplied after lunch.
It can be also used as a blush so a great multi-tasker. £22 from Feel Unique, check them out to see the other available colours too.
Love trying a new brand! Here is my first venture into British skincare company, Flint + Flint.
Their products are all made in England which I love, and at the moment Flint + Flint has nine products on offer.
Eye Hero is a delicate eye cream full of active ingredients to give you bang for your buck! With lots of techy-sounding names such as EYESERYL®, Beautifeye™ and Gransil DMCM-5 which go over my head, all I know is that it de-puffs and moisturises without feeling too heavy on the skin.
It contains Silk Tree Extract to rejuvenate the skin and boost collagen for anti-ageing. Those pesky fine lines I hate are blurred with the technology in this cream. Winner!
Holborn Cheeky - I love the Cheeky salon in Shoreditch but it is a bit of a trek for me. Holborn on the other hand is perfect! And this week it was announced that Cheeky have opened a Holborn salon - happy days! At the Hoxton Hotel, get your speedy manis and pedis there.
Customise your own Hourglass - exclusive at Liberty's this Autumn you can customise your own Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. One of their best-sellers, you can choose from six different powders to get the right palette especially for you! £60 at Liberty.
JO LOVES Shards of Cedar and Red Thyme - JO LOVES is the company Jo Malone actually owns now (she sold Jo Malone the brand to Estee Lauder), so I'm excited to smell the next fragrance from the scent queen! It launches later this month
Peter Andre Female Fragrance - From one fragrance I can't wait to try to this. Justin Bieber did it, so why can't Peter? He's launched his first female fragrance, entitled Scarlet...hmmmm
Gofybr Launches - basically coloured talc to cover up bald patches. Looks dreadful, don't do it men (or women)
It's STILL warm! I can't wait for it to get a little bit chilly. Boots, jumpers, tights, I'm craving proper Autumn. Chill out weather!
Let me know what's been Hot and Not for you this week,
MasqueBar is a Korean brand launching at Boots today!
Most of our beauty innovations and trends come from Asia, with Japan recently leading the way. Korea is catching up though and seems to be the most exciting in terms of ideas. Did you know Koreans have around 17 steps in their skincare routine?! Madness. Before we get that crazy, let's start with some gorgeous face masks...
There are four in the range - one mud (Anti-Blemish), one cream (Pore Refining) and two sheet masks (Brightening and Anti-Wrinkle. It's the sheet ones I'm most excited by - less fuss, mess, and overall a whole lot easier.
I went for the hard-hitter straight away - Anti-Wrinkle! Containing all the good stuff like Green Tea and Vitamin E, it deeply hydrates as well as reducing sun damage, preventing collagen breakdown and protecting against pollution.
Leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes then peel off and massage in any residue - so simple. Here is my (slightly scary) face mask selfie!
Do did I look 10 years younger when I took it off? No. And that would make me 18 so I'm not sure I want to look that young. What I did immediately notice is that my skin felt and looked a lot more radiant, and the texture had improved with it being a lot softer. I also used the residue on my neck and chest.
MasqueBar launches today exclusively at Boots, at £9.99 for a pack of three masks.
Last night I attended an incredible event for luxury nail polish brand, Only Fingers and Toes (OFAT).
First up, their amazing gift sets. Pricey mind you (the two-tier 24 polish set is £275), but absolutely gorgeous, and now I've tried the polish, worth every penny. They are also '5-free' - basically free from all nasty ingredients.
Next up, and perhaps the most exciting, was the nail polish mixing station. Choose a nail polish, more than one if you're feeling experimental, some glitter and they will mix it for you for the manicurists to apply professionally. Some may say too much choice - over 60 shades!
I changed my mind every couple of minutes, but I finally settled on a pearly grey shade called Mad Max with a blue-grey glitter on my accent nail.
Stunning. The best thing? This is a one-coater. Absolutely no need for two coats which shows the quality and also makes a mani super speedy. I'm very impressed.
Finally, a nail red carpet - I couldn't resist. A great event for an incredibly exciting brand. Check them out!
Only Fingers and Toes are £16 a polish, available from Harvey Nichols.
I've seen a lot of hype about this so yesterday in Boots I thought why not give it a go?
No.7 have just launched a lipstick matching service. They scan your face to identify your skin tone, which then gives you a list of lipsticks which perfectly match your complexion. When there are so many lipsticks to choose from, this aims to help you pick the ones which will work best for you.
I was foundation shade Calico which then provided me with these to choose from:
As you can see you have a lot to choose from, so it's then up to you to go through them and see which you like the look of. I chose three different shades, including two of their matte look ones, but my favourite was from the Moisture Drench collection, called Soft Paprika.
A slightly off-red, it definitely isn't a shade I would normally choose but it looks pretty darn good. Think I may have found my perfect red - this service definitely works!
Worth a go - it's a free service, so why not try it out? Find out more here
