Selfridges Beauty Workshop

Guess where I was yesterday!?! I had heard a lot of good things from other beauty bloggers about the new Selfridges Beauty Workshop - a mecca of endless beauty brands and treatments for any beauty buff!

This is what greets you...a huge inflatable nails inc bottle - I just wanted to hug it! I did resist the temptation though.

The Beauty Workshop isn't just about products, there are a number of treatment areas from nails inc, blink, Hershesons and St Tropez. The Paint Shop was AMAZING, especially for a nail polish addict like me.

You can get your nails done but they also had every nail polish you can imagine. Of course they had Ciate's caviar manicure which you can only get online or at Selfridges, as well as the full range of  Ciate, Essie, Butter London, nails inc, Topshop and more! Bliss!! They can also incorporate nail art into your manicure - not at all on a WAH nail scale, but the lips look really cute.

The busiest area was by far the blink brow bar with people getting their eyebrows threaded and head massages. It would be a perfect lunchtime pamper!

As you can imagine you are able to get every type of beauty treatment you could possibly want. I loved this place. You have to walk through the beauty counters at the front of Selfridges, which I always find quite intimidating, but this area is by far more chilled.

With top beauty brands involved it's sure to be a hit, and I really loved how they had so many beauty brands. Selfridges say they have over 50 in their Beauty Workshop so it's great to discover new ones which you have never heard of.

The official launch party is this Thursday!! Get yourself down there.

Let me know if you've already been down and what you thought of it.

NOTW: MeMeMe Tenacious and Model's Own Dancing Queen

I've been playing some more with Model's Own new Mirrorball collection. This week I've given Dancing Queen a go, which is gold, blue and green sparkles of all different sizes and shapes.

To compliment the tones I went for MeMeMe's Tenacious which is a punchy teal colour. All MeMeMe nail polishes have a wide brush which makes applying the colour so quick and easy. I put on two coats of this but you could probably get away with just the one if you're short of time.

I really liked the sparkly tips I did last week so went for the same effect this time around. As before, you have to dab on the polish instead of painting it on but it's very easy to do. Don't overload the brush as there are a lot of sparkles in Dancing Queen so don't be too heavy handed! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Once the glitter had dried a bit I put a top coat over it all to seal it in and make it more durable. One downside is that the bigger bits of sparkle can stick up at the edges if they're not in the right position and so they have to be removed as they could catch on things. However most of the time it's fine.

Another really eye-catching effect, I've had a lot of compliments today!

Hot and Not!

Bourjois Eyelash Applicator - if like me you've never been able to get false eyelashes just right, then this nifty tool from Bourjois should help. I never wear false lashes simply because I can't apply them properly. The eyelash applicator has just launched and costs only £3.99. Sure to sell out everywhere get it quickly at Boots and Superdrug
Ciate sequin manicure - first came caviar, then velvet, now sequin! Never one to rest on their laurels, Ciate have yet again caused much excitement in the beauty world with their latest innovation. Available at Selfridges from October, there are three different colours. Priced at £15. I can't wait!

Maybelline Smokey Eyes - I can't wait to try this, I love smokey eyes and Maybelline have created a special mascara for smokey eyes which gives huge volume with its collagen formula and has kohl pigments to give the ultimate smokey eye effect. I love Maybelline for their mascaras so this is sure to be a winner. Only £5 from Superdrug at the moment!

24 Carat Gold Leggings - another product for those with more money than sense I feel. These leggings contain 24 carat gold to minimise the signs of ageing on the legs and cost £74.90 - I can think of many other things to spend that money on!!

Fake promises - this week Lancome made the news for all the wrong reasons. It claimed the Genifique range boosted gene activity which the FDA states is completely inaccurate. As beauty products continue to evolve and innovate it seems the competition is going to some heads, causing them to stretch the truth. It is good though that authorities aren't letting them get away with it.

Beauty sweets - yet another thing I'm dubious about, collagen filled sweets to make you look younger. Yeh right!! Priced at £7.50 and in four different flavours this launches in October...

What have been your Hot and Not from this week?

New Model's Own Mirrorball Collection

After falling completely head over heels in love with the Hed Kandi Ibiza Mix, I knew the new Mirrorball collection would be amazing.

The blingiest collection of nail polishes EVER! I had to have them. And I've had a lot of fun playing with them. There are 5 in the collection - Hot Stuff, Disco Inferno, Hayley's Comet, Boogie Nights and Dancing Queen.

I decided to try Hayley's Comet as blue, pink and purple sparkly tips. The glitter in all these polishes is a mixture of different sizes and colours which all compliment each other. I put this on top of Mememe's Generous which is a pale lilac and the sparkle really stands out. I'm in love!

As with all glitter polishes you have to dab the brush onto the nail rather than stroke it on to build up the effect, but this was really easy to do. I've had this on since Saturday and I have only just started to notice a couple of chips.

I also got my mum to model Disco Inferno as a layer over a deep green. The gold, bronze and green flecks are so pretty.

This is just one coat of Disco Inferno over two coats of the colour so you could build it up if you want to but I really like just one. None of these polishes can really be subtle!

I can't wait to try the others. Has anyone else bought these? Which is your fave?

Get them here before they all sell out!

Fashion Monitor's Style Lounge for LFW

Over London Fashion Week, the industry online bible, Fashion Monitor, launched Style Lounge, a haven in Central London full of amazing beauty treatments on offer.

As soon as I heard about it, I immediately set about booking in. With the likes of Essie, Urban Retreat, Bourjois and Michael Van Clarke on board, it had to be good! Thankfully I got a pedicure appointment.

Based in a beautiful suite in the May Fair Hotel, the Style Lounge was a buzzing yet relaxing hub of beauty goodies. A beauty blogger's dream!

I was treated to a lovely Essie pedicure by Angel from Harrod's Urban Retreat. I chose Recessionista from their new AW12 collection, a beautiful rich berry colour.

The pedicure was fantastic, so relaxing and we had a good natter as well - I found out about Urban Retreat's newest offerings which are incredibly exciting...more to be revealed!

Pretty toes and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Great popcorn from Propercorn and Vitamin Water to get you through Fashion Week madness! If they offer this again next Fashion Week I'll be first in line!

This week's Hot and Not

It's been a while, here we go peeps!!

Model's Own Mirrorball collection - so gorgeous, this collection is the definition of bling! A set of 5 glitter polishes, they became available this week online. I had to get the collection, which also includes a top and base coat for £20 - bargain!! I shall be trying them all this weekend so pics to come very soon

Bobbi Brown Breast Cancer set - so many people are making special collections for Breast Cancer Awareness month but this one stands out from the crowd. The illuminating bronzer and brush will be available from Bobbi Brown from 1st October, with £5 going straight to the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

Style Lounge at LFW - it's finally here, London Fashion Week is upon us. Beauty is just as important as the fashion nowadays which I love and I can't wait to see all the beauty trends for SS13. The Style Lounge is a retreat to escape all the madness of the Week and treat yourself to a massage, mani, pedi, lashes, etc courtesy of top beauty brands such as Essie, Bourjois and Urban Retreat...I'm hoping to be able to book in!!

Colder weather - dry lips, dry skin, brittle nails...if you have naturally dry skin like me, this time of year when the weather turns seems to sap all the moisture out of your body. Moisturiser and lip balm goes up a notch now!

Anti-ageing drink - I'm incredibly dubious about this. Could a collagen drink really work? Apparently Boots' biggest seller, this could all be PR spin. £35.99 for 10 days, I'd like to hear if anyone has tried this, and I won't be spending that money until I'm more convinced.

Lady Gaga fragrance launch - always looking to stun, Lady Gaga actually had her head tattooed during her fragrance launch. Why? To promote her new perfume. Pure madness.

Let me know your thoughts on the Hot and Not for this week,

Vogue's Fashion Night Out

I'd never been to this before so thought I'd give it a whirl this year and I LOVED it!!

The first thing I saw on South Molton Street were these incredibly cute Radley dogs, so adorable...

The atmosphere throughout London's west end, especially Bond Street, was amazing. I first popped in to Ted Baker where I had an amazing cocktail, chocolate fish and chips and a fab Elemis hand massage...bliss!

As you would expect the Elemis massage was fantastic and left my hands incredibly smooth for the rest of the evening. She especially worked the cream into my cuticles as they were quite dry.

Here are some other highlights from the evening...

The WAH girls at Kurt Geiger

French Sole goodies

The Reiss grabber...the queue was insane!

Coconut cocktail at House of Fraser

Shoot going on in shop front windows!

Hotel Chocolat pink champagne truffles YUM

Missoni ice cream stand

Swing dancing in New Bond Street

Finally Burlesque entertainment in Burlington Arcade!

A brilliant night! Let me know if you went, and if so you're best bits!
