NOTW: Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel

This week I've gone for some sparkle! I'd heard good things about the new Bourjois nail polish and this one jumped out at me at Superdrug.

It has small and big speckles of glitter of all different colours. Attention grabbing without being in your face it makes your nails shimmer. It would perhaps be better as a topcoat rather than on its own though.

I really liked the thick brush as it cuts down application time and means you get a really nice even coverage.

Only £5.99! Have any of you tried any other colours in this range? I also bought a deep blue which I'm excited to try...

Hot & Not

This week there seems to only be hot beauty news so no Not section today. I'm not going to put it in for the sake of it!

NARSskin - I couldn't be more excited about the news that NARS is launching its first skincare line in September. Not long to wait!! I believe they will only be available from the NARS website. Starting from £20 the range is very affordable. Exciting!!

Selfridges beauty box - to celebrate the new Beauty Workshop at Selfridges (which I mentioned last week) they are giving you the chance to have a special one-off beauty box. I'm not a big fan of beauty boxes, I haven't signed up to any but this one looks special. Available on Tuesday, expect this to be snapped up really quickly.

Benefit and Matthew Williamson - two of my faves are collaborating this London Fashion Week. Matthew Williamson is one of my favourite designers, his girly, very feminine and unique clothes appeal so much to me. And this year the experts at Benefit will be doing the make-up for his show at LFW. I can't wait to see what beauty trends come out for SS13.

WAH Nails - Union Jack Nail Art

On Friday I went to watch two of our guys in the semi-finals of the boxing Olympics at the Excel. It was amazing, they both won, and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible! In preparation for this I decided to get my nails done with some Union Jack nail art, and WAH nails came highly recommended.

Based in the Topshop Oxford Street WAH nails are uber-cool! Nail art is their speciality and they have one wall completely covered in different designs. It is incredible what their manicurists can do. Luckily I knew what I wanted, otherwise I would have been there all day trying to decide!

My manicurist was lovely and took such care and attention to detail to make sure my nails looked absolutely perfect. As you can expect, they have had a lot of demand for Union Jack nails in support of Team GB, and I also saw people getting the Welsh dragon and Jamaican flags whilst I was there.

The effect is incredible. I couldn't stop staring at them! Lots of people have complimented them, and asked whether they are nail wraps. Oh no, these are 100% hand painted. A work of art, there is no way I would have the patience and a steady enough hand to do them myself. Perfect to support Team GB!

Top, top quality nail art - I really want to go back and try some other designs! They're not cheap so unfortunately I couldn't afford this to become a weekly habit but for a special occasion they are a must. Take a look at

Let me know what you think!

What's Hot and What's Not!

By Terry launching fragrance collection - HUGE fan of By Terry products and had the privilege to even meet the infamous Terry. She is launching her very first range of perfumes at the end of the year (date is still vague). However, from the woman who invented Touche Eclat all she puts her mind to is magic so I'm very excited!!

Selfridges Beauty Workshop - next month Selfridges has announced it will open a new Beauty Workshop which will include a St Tropez spray booth, The Paint Shop by Nails Inc (love the name!), Hersheson Blowdry Bar, Blink brow bar and Weave Got Style hair extensions (another brilliant name). Top quality beauty brands on board, I can't wait to get down there.

Revlon Colourstay - I've never used a Revlon nail polish but I've heard great things about this new range. Just £7.99 apparently this latest range uses all their decades of knowledge to produce nail polishes which last up to 11 days. Sounds like a winner to me! Available from this week at Boots.

Hair extension damage - I've always been scared by hair extensions. The idea of having thicker, fuller hair sounds amazing but the expense and damage to your real hair always make me think twice. And now with Naomi Campbell showing how damaged her hair is I think it's 100% a no from me.

Weight loss fragrance - this is crazy. Why oh why? It says it has research supporting their claims and a crazy waiting list but I don't buy it. A perfume surely can't make you lose weight. Eat less, move more. Use perfume to smell nice. Simples!

Nail art gone mad - I feel a bad putting nails into Not, and these are fun but not very practical. How do you go to the loo!? My favourite has to be Austin Powers Dr Evil!!

What do you think?

NOTW: Nails Inc Bluebell and Models Own Hed Kandi Ibiza Mix

I've had this combo on my nails over the weekend and will definitely be keeping it for this week. A little late to the Models Own Ibiza Mix hype maybe, but it's the most amazing glitter which jazzes up any nail polish!

I first applied the Nails Inc Bluebell which came free with InStyle magazine a couple of months ago. See my review of it on its own here. It is a really pretty pastel blue-purple and being Nails Inc very good quality as always. However this week I was most excited by the Ibiza Mix glitter by Models Own.

It has big and small flecks of blue, green, yellow, pink, purple and orange glitter. Don't buy this if you don't want your nails to be noticed! I've had loads of compliments over the weekend. You can make this more subtle by applying just the one coat of Ibiza Mix but I wanted the glitter to be quite thick so I kept on applying until I was happy.

Part of a special Hed Kandi collection for Models Own this polish is £5. I've heard that it may be difficult to take off as with most glitter polishes. For now I don't want it to come off and if it means I can get away with not having to do my nails again this week I'm all for it!!

I hope this zoomed in pic makes it even clearer. I would recommend this nail polish to anyone, it's just so pretty.

What's Hot and Not

What's creating a buzz in the beauty world this week...

Orly Think Pink collection - I normally find pink polish a bit boring but these are gorgeous. Three various pink glitter shades with 20% going towards breast cancer charities. Available October from the Orly website, they will be £10.80 each. Pretty nails and supporting breast cancer = winner! Think my favourite is the middle one

Paul & Joe new lipsticks - these are absolutely adorable, I've completely fallen in love with the design. But being from Paul & Joe I'm also sure the quality will be incredible as well. Launching 1st September, these limited edition beauties will be £12.50 each, available at Harrods, ASOS and Make a note in your diary!

British Beauty - I well and truly have Olympic fever! After months of complaining about how many tourists we'd have and the nightmare commute it's all be fine. And TeamGB have done fantastically well so far! Everyone has been buzzing about the Olympic nails Sophy Robson and her team have given the squad and I've been wearing my Look Beauty Cool Britannia this week. It's certainly making me feel very patriotic so here are a few Olympic beauty goodies which put a smile on my face.

Ciate having a go at bloggers - this week I found out that Ciate have been emailing a handful beauty bloggers who have been making their own caviar manicure to tell them to stop. I'm a big fan of the Ciate Caviar Manicure and can't wait to try their Velvet one, but they are quite pricey, and if bloggers can make their own (some have called it the 'fish egg manicure') why not?! They have since apologised but the damage may be done. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?!

Jennifer Lopez jewelled lips - her new music video showed the blingiest of bling lips. Taking things a bit too far I don't think this is going to catch on. At least I hope not! Stick to bling nails.

Weird eyeliner - September magazine issues are upon us and with them the beauty trends for the Autumn/Winter season. One of the most baffling ones for me is wacky eyeliner. I'll be very interested to see if anyone wears this to the office...

Do you agree? What have been your beauty highlights this week?

Sex & The City Sunset Deo Spray

I am a HUGE fan of Sex & The City. It's pretty much all I watched at uni. Second film not so much, but before then I thought it was brilliant.

And now HBO have just brought out Sex & The City Sunrise and Sunset body sprays and perfume, and I was kindly sent the body spray of the Sunset fragrance. To follow in the footsteps of the signature scent brought out last year, I think HBO has high hopes for these two additions.

Plus they were created by top perfumers Oliver Gillotin and Marypierre Julien so I had high hopes before I even smelt it!

They say that, "The Sunset deo spray aims to capture the soft and warm beauty of sundown reflected in the iconic skyline of New York City, featuring classic top notes of Blood Orange, Violet Leaves, Freesia and Green Apple that give the fragrance its feminine and floral bouquet." I am told the Sunrise fragrance is fresher and fruitier as you may expect a scent to be to evoke a sunrise.

I really like this fragrance. It's subtle, musky and feminine. I put it on in the mornings and it lasts all day. Every now and then you get a stronger whiff of the scent which is really soft and pretty. Not just an evening fragrance!

Available as a body spray or perfume, the body spray is only £5 (bargain!), available at

My Top Beauty Tips

I've been meaning to do this post for a while now. Working in beauty, being a beauty blogger and reading endless magazines mean I've picked up some tips along the way and I wanted to share with you all my best ones.

1. Apply eye cream to your lids as well as underneath your eyes. Don't forget your eyelids age just as much as undereyes, so when applying eye creams pat under and above your eyes. Lids have a tendency is get crepey as we age so combat that with this little tip.

2. 'Seal' your nail polish by applying polish and topcoat on the tips of your nails. This makes your manicure last a lot longer as it gives extra protection against chipping. Just put a thin layer of the polish then the topcoat along the edge of your nail to seal it in.

3. When applying fake tan always wear gloves and work from your feet up. Apply the tiniest amount to your feet and blend away. Blending is the key to looking natural. And at the end take off your gloves, put a small amount on the back of one hand and rub the back of your hands together, working it down the fingers and smudging onto your wrists.

4. Don't forget your chest area. Apply all your face serums, exfoliators, creams, etc down your neck and onto your decollete. It is an extremely thin area of skin which is most often exposed to the sun and needs all the help it can get! But it is usually forgotten until too late. Prevention is better than cure!

5. Treat yourself! Lots of us feel a bit guilty getting pampered with massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, etc. But I say enjoy it! Giving your body some rest, relaxation and recuperation is the best thing you can do after many of us work so hard. I'm just as guilty as most people at this, I've been needing a manicure for months, so I'm making an effort to treat myself.

What are your top beauty tips?
