What's Hot...What's Not

This week's Hot and Not:

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Stick - especially for Breast Cancer with all the proceeds going to the charity plus free delivery. A Bobbi Brown I've only heard good things about this. I've just ordered mine, get yours before the end of the month!

Nails Inc Camel Collection - another order for me today. A web-exclusive with some of the hottest colours around at the moment, a must for anyone varnish-crazy, I can't wait to try it!
Rachel Stevens - looking gorgeous at eight months pregnant, and I absolutely love her hair! Thick, natural colour, sophisticated and sexy.

Beauty nightmare - this time of year is awful for skin, hair and nails. Nail get dry and brittle, skin gets dry and lips crack, whilst hair is frazzled. Going from hot to cold to hot all day isn't good. Invest in moisturisers for everything right now!

Coleen Rooney - has she had a boob job, hasn't she? I don't care...

James Franco as a woman!! OMG what has he done? He's gorgeous and now I'll never be able to see him in the same light. He's posed as a guy for Candy magazine. Oh. Dear.

My Handbag Essentials!

Today I want to share with you those handbag essentials I have to have in my bag at ALL times!

Number One is definitely YSL Touche Eclat. I can't leave the house without it, no other concealer even comes close. I can see exactly why this has won so many awards. It lasts a long time, but I always have to have a new tube as back-up for when it runs out. Amazing!

Another oldie but goodie...Maybelline Great Lash mascara. It has to be Blackest Black and I have to apply two coats. Creates length without any clumps. So many new mascaras promise this but I always return to this one. A classic!

Moving to lips I adore Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm. It works its magic quickly and is so luxurious. When nothing else will help your sore lips give this a try.

Now for my hands. Especially during winter, I have to have some emergency hand cream in my bag. Boots Protect and Perfect serum got rave reviews, but I absolutely love their hand cream. You don't need much and it sinks in quickly so it doesn't feel like you can't touch anything for ages after applying. Huge recommendation for this.

What are your handbag beauty essentials?

Palace Gardens Terrace

Here is the varnish I'm rocking this week. Part of Nails Inc. amazing Autumn/Winter collection, Palace Gardens Terrace is a gorgeous dark chocolate brown. I'm hoping this will last all week like Lowdnes Square last week!

Let me know if you've tried it and what you think. It's working with the dark weather right now!! Will let you know how it goes this week, and whether it beats Lowdnes Square...

What's Hot...What's Not

This week's Hot and Not...let me know if you agree!!

Nail varnish that lasts! I have had Nails Inc Lowndes Square on all week and no chips!! Amazing colour too. Grilac baby.

L'oreal Advent Calendar - this should be top of everyone's Christmas List! Not your usual chocolate, this advent calendar contains beauty goodies. AMAZE! Available exclusively at Selfridges for £60.

Caramel blonde - had some of this colour weaved through my hair last weekend and I've had so many compliments this week! Great for the winter.

Scarlett Johansoon's new do - she's lost her sex appeal's really really bad

Jimmy Choo Uggs - I think I've included these on my list before, but now I hear 64,000 people (rich chavs) are on the waiting list for them. Hmmm weirdos! Two amazing brands coming together has not made for a wonderful product.

Coleen's eyebrows - I know bigger, bushier eyebrows are in this season but this is not a good look Coleen!

Cheryl's hair - Let me know what you guys think but I can't make up my mind whether the red is good for Cheryl or not...

Knighted Jimmy Choo!

With Jimmy Choo boss Tamara Mellon being awarded an OBE for services to fashion, what a great excuse to show you my top picks of their amazing Autumn/Winter collection!! And no, I'm most definitely not including the Jimmy Choo uggs!

Two Week Update!

I'm two weeks into my StriVectin Eye Concentrate and I've definitely noticed a difference in that my skin feels firmer around my eyes.

I love the consistency of the cream. It's the perfect mix between not too thick and sticky, which you really wouldn't want around your skin, yet also not too runny. It feels luxurious which is great.

Within two weeks they say you should notice "energy increasing, dark circles and puffiness reducing". You can make your own minds up from the following photos. There isn't a huge amount of difference yet, but I do think the dark circles are less and the skin is firmer.

I'm going to be patient with this, because I do really like it so far. In four weeks I should see "natural collagen renewing; firmness increasing, texture improving" so here's hoping...

And smiley!

Sneak Peak!

OMG take a look at the little teaser Lanvin and H&M have given us about their collaboration, due to hit stores next month.

Absolutely loving the textured dress on the right! I'm even more excited now. Get ready for a stampede though, I doubt they will stay on the rails for long!

Keep the Curves Christina!

I have some very sad news.

It appears the curse of Hollywood has taken one of the very best, Christina Hendricks. Rumours are circulating saying that she's on a diet to get rid of her world-famous curves. Apparently she's taken being called "the curviest woman in Hollywood" to mean that she is fat and must slim down.

No, no, no. Everyone has talked about her curves only with admiration, envy and awe! Woman want to have her curves. I can't believe she's getting rid of them.

So sad, and I hope it's all false, as she'll end up just like all the other women in Hollywood, with nothing unique or special about her at all.

Keep the curves Christina! I might start a campaign...

What's Hot...What's Not

What you've all been waiting for, this week's Hot and Not!!!!

National Chocolate Week - as if I needed an excuse! Eat, drink and  smother your skin in all things chocolatey!

Julien McDonald lashes - all my eyelash extensions have fallen out now :-( and I'm left with my boring, short, natural ones! To jazz them up check out these beauties available at Debenhams. I especially love the flash of pink

Matthew Williamson at Somerset House - to coincide with his new book Somerset house are displaying some of his best pieces. Free entry, until the end of January. I can't wait to go!

Too much blusher - never was this more evident than on Stella in The Apprentice this week!! It's supposed to be SUBTLE girlies not look as though you've been punched!

Crash diets - just don't do it. A mum passed away due to one, and having watched Living With Size Zero on Sky Three it is just so sad to see people so controlled and unhappy with their weight. Eat healthily, but don't obsess.

Longjohns - I know it's getting colder but NO!

The Beehive Factor

Beehives are the hairstyle of the moment right now! And Cher and Katie from X Factor have been battling it out beehive versus beehive before they go head to head on stage.

Loving this look, you can go structured or messy and it's great for day or night! Many salons are now doing Beehive Masterclasses for you to achieve the perfect look at home.

Hmmm have to say Cher wins this one...

Not the miners that have been in the news all day today, but Miners Cosmetics! Perhaps a little bit insensitive but a like a link no matter how tenuous!!!

Miners have been around for ages, and I remember them when I was little. However for the past few years they seem to have gone AWOL. Speaking to one of their team recently, they are alive and kicking online and in independent pharmacies but not (yet) back on the High Street.

Even though I remember them from the 'old days' they certainly aren't old-fashioned. Especially with their latest lipsticks called Fashion Matte. Gorgeously moisturising and long-lasting, I love their bright pink called Starlet. Inspired by Cheryl Cole, this pink is apparently 'perfect for that sophisticated lady with a fun and bubbly edge' - so made for me then!!!

Anyway, I urge you all to take a look

Chocolate with Benefits

As it's National Chocolate Week I thought I would do a quick round-up of my 10 best cocoa butter products.

What gives chocolate its gorgeous taste, also helps to make every part of your body look and feel amazing.

1. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula - one of the originals and the best, Palmer's rich lotion makes your skin feel so soft and loved. Apparently tones as well as smooths, all I know is that it conditions my dry skin a treat!
2. Lush Mange Too Massage Bar - A massage bar you can eat?! Yes please. Lush have come up trumps with this one, a gorgeous honey and cocoa butter concoction which massages, moisturises and then fills your tummy!!

3. Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator - Mixed with Jojoba beads to create a softening and moisturising exfoliator this product smells gorgeous and leaves your face feeling amazingly soft.

4. Body Shop Cocoa Butter Lipcare Stick - Their Body Butter often gets the glory, but actually their lipbalm is fantastic!! They call it a 'lip luxury' and it really is, I definitely recommend this one!

5. Neal's Yard Nourishing Melissa Nail Balm - yes cocoa butter can also help your nails and cuticles! Deeply moisturising, it helps the delicate skin around the nails to look its very best.

6. The Sanctuary Brightening Eye Gel - Fresh yet moisturising this product zaps puffiness whilst the cocoa butter protects and softens the delicate eye area.

7. Origins Nourishing Face Lotion - Of course if it moisturises everywhere else on the body, then cocoa butter can also nourish your face. Especially good for the winter when central heating dries out the skin, this product uses organic cocoa butter.

8. St. Tropez Tan Optimiser - In order to preserve your golden glow for as long as possible, cocoa butter helps to keep the skin in top condition. Combined with regular exfoliation your tan should last as long as possible. You could probably use any regular body butter, but this product definitely has a luxurious feel.

9. Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Face Masque - To intensely nourish your skin use this chocoholic's dream of a face mask! Rich in cocoa butter, its deeply cleansing and moisturising. A real skin treat and only 99p!

10. Boots Cocoa Butter Body Wash - Organic and fairtrade, this cocoa butter gently cleanses, conditions and moisturises.
This just shows how cocoa butter can help moisturise and smooth every single part of your body!

Right I'm now off to buy a big chocolate bar...

What's Hot...What's Not

It's that time of week again...what's hot and not right now!!

Glittery nails - in case you missed it, I absolutely adored my Barry M blue glitter nail varnish this week! I've had so many compliments and inspired many girls in the office to follow suit.

Katy Perry's dress - still no idea where it's from but I love it. Tribal print, funky neckline, sexy but not slutty, perfect!

Nail effects - Barry M get yet another mention on my Hot list. This time, for their amazing Instant Nail Effects varnish which creates funky patterns on top of your base colour. May just be a fad but I'm loving it right now! Only £3.95, available online or at Superdrug.

Boots which are too tight - On my Monday commute home I was horrified to see a woman who's boots were ridiculously tight, digging right into her legs and turning them red...not pretty. I have chunky calves, so I either don't wear these kind of boots or go somewhere that does different calf widths!

OTT Botox - Lord Sugar's wife, Sharon Osbourne, seems this week botox overload has been on every mag and newspaper. It's not a good look, this is definitely a case of less is more.

Gap's new logo - it didn't need to be changed, completely unnecessary and ugly!

Ever Hopeful!

A nationwide survey has found that on average women have 12 pieces in their wardrobe, just waiting for the day when we will finally fit into it again!

Financially this means we all have at least £289 worth of clothing wasting away in our wardrobes.

Thinking about it, I probably have more than 12!! I probably have a couple of pairs of jeans, many tops, a few skirts...all of which I'm just waiting for when I've been to the gym enough and have sufficient confidence to wear them again! Some dating back from my teens!! I don't know why we find it so difficult to throw these things away. Maybe it's that we don't want to admit that we're probably never going to be that thin (or young) again, or that we need it in our wardrobes to give us that motivation to get down the gym or refuse the chocolate cake.

Whatever it is, it's money not well spent in our wardrobes. Time to get more clothes swaps going!!

Day one in the SV house...

And Christina is scared to put her wrinkles on the Internet!!

Anyway, enough of being silly...I received this lovely treat in the post and today's the start of my StriVectin experiment.

Their Eye Concentrate is a tube packed full of high-tech sciencey goodness. This improved version has "more efficacious peptides, brighteners and soft focus light diffusers" - they can only be good things!

I have read such nice things about this product that I'm so excited to try. As they say, the fragile area around the eye is the first to show the signs of ageing, and it's the one place that I hate at the moment. They're the first proper wrinkles I've noticed, especially when I smile :(

So in the name of research here is how my eyes are starting out. Will update again in two weeks when I should have increased energy, and dark circles and puffiness should be reduced.

No make-up and not smiling (but with uneven lashes as my extensions are falling out!)

And smiling...

Check it out here

Hurrah for the pears!!

Research out today has made all pear-shaped women out there finally grateful for their body shape!

Apparently having a bigger bum and thighs means you'll live longer. Being a pear myself I have always loathed my thighs but they may actually be healthy for me!! Who would have guessed it?!

And in celebration, here are my favourite pears!!
